2016 Fanfic Roundup

The stories I've posted in 2016, listed in roughly chronological order of posting.

Rey's Words (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) - Rey's relationship with written words and stories, growing up on Jakku.

Road Test (Supernatural) - Some detours take you further than others.

I See You Shiver With Anticip.... (Sherlock (TV)) - "No," John said to the gold lamé shorts.

Full Disclosure (Sherlock Holmes (Downey films), Sherlock Holmes & Related
Fandoms) - A message brought by an Irregular provides Holmes more information than Watson intended.

True Blue Friendship (Young Sherlock Holmes (1985), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms) - Watson discovers he now has an ally against the bullies who keep tormenting him at Brompton Academy.

The Blackwall Box Man (Sherlock Holmes (1984 TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms) - When Inspector Lestrade brings a cold case to 221B Baker Street, Holmes and Watson prove it to be not nearly as cold as first thought.

Shell Game (Sherlock (TV)) - Just a minor breakfast apocalypse.

Aging Gracefully (Sherlock (TV)) - "SHERLOCK HOLMES! YOU ARE NOT USING MRS HUDSON AS BAIT!"

Sitting to Breakfast (Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms, Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (TV Russia)) - Mrs Hudson could tell she would become very fond of her new lodger.

Vectors (Sherlock (TV)) - John muses on the joys of flu season.

Reach Out and Touch Someone (Great Mouse Detective - Fandom) - When a crisis demands Basil and Dawson must take action to save a human's life, they use the latest human technology and some ingenuity.

A Handful (Elementary (TV)) - Marcus tries to make a furry little friend.

Mutual Annihilation (Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms, Sherlock Holmes (Downey films)) - The second stage of grief is anger.

Tea and Angry Biscuits (Sherlock (TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms) - By the time John got himself down the stairs he should have known Mrs Hudson would have abducted Lestrade.

The Center of Attention (Sherlock (TV)) - The corpse was the least interesting object in the room.

Quiet Until Provoked (Sherlock (TV)) - He should have brought his gun.

The Scottish Ploy (Sherlock (TV)) - Cases like this are what made Sherlock turn to telecommuting.

Standing By, Innocently (Merlin (TV), Sherlock (TV)) - For someone so obviously elderly, John marvelled as he ran, the old man can hustle.

A Friendly Game (Sherlock (TV)) - John did try to get Sherlock to give Anderson a second chance.

A Note of Condolence (Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms, Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle) - I scarce know what words to give you on the occasion of the death of your brother.

Quantum Entanglement (Sherlock (TV), Elementary (TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms, Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle, The Great Mouse Detective (1986), Young Sherlock Holmes (1985)) - Recognition can happen in the absence of memory.

Caught in the Undertow (Sherlock (TV)) - On review, John thought as he sailed over the railing, getting into a brawl with a murderer on Tower Bridge had not been a wise choice.

Just Around the Corner (Sherlock (TV)) - John discovers that when Sherlock is deep in a case and won't eat, sometimes it's better to leave it to the experts.

A Measure of Revenge (Sherlock (TV)) - Household accidents are quite common in general, but their frequency in 221B Baker Street might skew the statistics a little.

How We Rescued My Daddy From His Bad Friends (Sherlock (TV)) - This is Mr Sherlock. He's not a nice man but he's a good man because he found my daddy. He wasn't wearing his hat but I drawd it in anyway.

Together, They Fight Crime! (Sherlock (TV)) - Crack.

Walking Against the Wind (Sherlock (TV)) - I can't hear my fire team over the comms anymore, just the hissing roar of the sandstorm.

The Case of the Midnight Shaving (Sherlock Holmes (1984 TV)) - The man standing in the doorway of our sitting room flushed furiously, right to the top of his bald pate. "I demand my case be taken seriously!"

Communications Breakdown (Sherlock (TV)) - John doesn't get the message.

Helping Hands (Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes (1984 TV), Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms) - The sacrifices one makes for science.

When Timbers are Shivered and Lillies are Livered (Sherlock (TV)) - Mycroft did tell him about Sherlock's childhood career plans, but John hadn't quite reconciled the image with his mad flatmate, until now.

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Elementary (TV)) - Joan Watson has had enough.

Advanced Strategies in Thermal Regulation (Sherlock (TV)) - A heatwave in London is a damp, heavy, grimy thing, like a giant washing-up sponge pressing down on the city.

Raise a Cup of Cheer (Sherlock (TV)) - Moving in with Sherlock exposes John to Mrs Hudson's family traditions.

Freeze Thy Blood Less Coldly (Sherlock (TV)) - John had never been so cold.

Total word count in 2015: 35637.

Only 64% of last year's word count and also fewer stories, but I've been dealing with some pretty intense personal issues in 2016, so I'm not surprised that the total is lower. There were also a couple stories posted as graphics, so the word count from those isn't in the total. The July [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes challenge is once again responsible for the lion's share of what I wrote this year.

List of the top 10 most Favorited stories of the ones I have mirrored over at Fanfiction.net:

Carjacking
It Takes A Village
Write or Die, Moriarty Mode
The Simple Joys of Home
Where Monsters Fear to Roam
Building Dean Van Halen
A Restless Pillow
Why Sam is Taller than Dean
Newer Every Day
Rituals of the Road

A stunning change as Carjacking has overtaken longstanding list topper "It Takes a Village"! I never thought anything would unseat that one. The rest, not much change at all.

And here's the list of the Top 5 most 'kudosed' stories I have on AO3:

Night of the Breathing Dead
The Fire
A Conspiracy of Cooks
Splinter of Doubt
Building Dean Van Halen

"Night of the Breathing Dead still on top and has over 400 Kudos now (Eep!) The Fire has shot up to second, and "Building Dean Van Halen" is an older Supernatural story I wrote, and the only non-Sherlock story in the top 5, which makes me smile.

2015's stats, mostly for my own reference.

Have a happy and safe New Year everyone.
