caffienekitty: (dr horrible - status not quo)
I've always said I'd stick with Livejournal until it dies, but the limit has now been reached. So, unfortunately, over the next long while I will be transferring my primary journal activities to my Dreamwidth fractured mirror.

You're all welcome to follow me on there, but I won't be friending back (or whatever they call it) for a long while until I can figure out how to reinstate the filters on some filtered posts. Right now everything is far too exposed over there. This will be a very rocky process.

I'm also looking for:
-Clear simple instructions on how to download and backup the stuff I have in Livejournal's Scrapbook, along with its folder structuring.
-An image hosting service that's cheap/free and reliable and offers at least 2gb of space.
-Places on Dreamwidth to find fandom communities there.

I'm sure more things will crop up as this process gets underway.

If I manage to write anything during this period, it will be posted to my AO3 account I do have a semi-active tumblr that I'm currently reblogging a lot of Merlin and random things on, and very rarely posting anything myself.

I found this fascinating. I'd heard of most of these things before but not really how some of them worked. Good reference for writing or roleplaying things involving historical ocean travel.

Title: Sitting to Breakfast
Fandom: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Russian, 1979
Alternate Postings: AO3
Rating/Content: PG13, food, character study
Warnings: none.
Word Count: 515
Disclaimer: Not my world.
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] watsons_woes July Writing Prompt #6: Food, Glorious Food. Maybe a bit OOC for this particular Mrs Hudson, but I may be projecting a little. Vitaly Solomin's Watson is as cute as a button, and I could watch him eat things for hours.

Summary: Mrs Hudson could tell she would become very fond of her new lodger.

I've been watching the DC Legends of Tomorrow series with RL friends on an irregular weekly basis. If anyone is interested in my denial theories about a certain element of the penultimate episode (original air date 5/12/16), I've been bending [livejournal.com profile] shanachie_quill's comment threads with them in her intriguing post regarding a certain character arc in the show's first season.

ETA: Link.

I haven't seen many of these series' and am not up to date on watching some others, but my brain got stuck on random while waiting for the laundry and kept mashing together TV Show titles. In case anyone else might find this amusing, I figured I'd post it.

Concept: Take two or more TV Series (or movie, or book...) titles and combine them. Describe the resulting combined series briefly.

TV Series Title Mashups )
Feel free to post your own below, or turn it into a mashup meme on your own journal/tumblr.

To celebrate, here's a catchy little Shakespearean Insults song by Hank Green and the Perfect Strangers (from YouTube) called "Undigested Lump".

The high point of this week was apparently me clogging the office toilet this morning and needing to call the building strata for a plumber. This is because according to the Roto-Rooter guy, having him in today about the clog (which turns out not to actually be my fault) means that I didn't walk into the office on Monday to find the floor three inches deep in raw sewage. The area is prone to developing horrible sewer issues because (and this is a direct quote from a certified plumbing professional), "The sewer system in this block doesn't have nearly enough gravity."

Okay then. Good to know. (I know what he meant by that really, it just seemed an amusing way to put it)

The rest of the week was even more unspeakable, and it shall not be spoken of.

I'm off (sort of) adventuring tomorrow, yay. I still haven't watched through the Sherlock Special. I had a schedule and plans, but then Work happened everywhere and nope. Blah. So I'm still avoiding most of the internet. Hope you are all doing well.

Just noticed, Jenna Louise Coleman was in the first Captain America movie as Bucky's date for the scenes at the science expo at the start.

So, that's New York City, around, what? Ten years after Rory and Amy get stuck in 1930's Manhattan, where the Doctor can't get to anymore?

The crossovers practically write themselves.

Also, Lady Me could definitely get to 1930's Manhattan, and she's said she'd be checking on the people the Doctor leaves behind so...

Just saying. >.>

One of the 'beer and pretzels' shows I watch is Scorpion. It's fun, mindless, includes bad science and geeky characters and team-based MacGyverism, but doesn't have much in the way of fandom that I know of. I mainly watch it to just let my head coast for an hour. It had a quote tonight I wanted to icon though.

Because we've all had days like that.

caffienekitty: (not my day)
Charles Malik Whitfield had a significant guest appearance on the winter finale of Scorpion (new popcorn series this year about super-genius troubleshooters) last Monday, and I had to combine a screencap with a Henriksen quote from Jus in Bello.

Under the cut. No spoilers for Scorpion winter finale. )

Notes: Started writing this in 2011, and lo, it's now as done as it's ever going to get. Inspired by an old meme prompt, but doesn't answer any of the specific queries posed in that prompt. (Sorry.) Summary is written in the style of A.A. Milne chapter titles.

Summary: In which there is a lab explosion, but then things get weird.
