Torchwood Reactions: 2.04-2.07

Torchwood 2.04 - Meat

-Okay, saw the plot coming a billion miles away, but whatever.

-Ianto's pizza-eating bib. Hee!

-Jack and 'alien meat'. Snerk. Never, ever change, Jack.

-They can't tell Rhys is following them? They suck!

-Jack with Gwen up against the wall... was... hum. Ah. Very interesting.

-Oooo, and all the accents pop out when they get all shouty!

-"Aliens. In Cardiff." Hee.

-"Mister Caveman" Hee!

-"This is quite homoerotic." Snerk. What a subtle way of telling a person you're getting turned on by being shouted at by their fiance.

-The whole Owen/Tosh thing is psychotic. Last week, he seemed to be the one swinging the clue bat, and now Tosh is all but crawling into his lap and he's utterly indifferent. This will drive me nuts if it keeps up like this.

-So much yay for Jack hitting on Rhys's secretary. Hee!

-"Are you gay?" Heh. Rhys, you have no idea.

-Owen again with the MacGyverism, mixing random bottles of stuff in the sedative lab.

-Oooo! Rhys taking a bullet for Gwen? Wow! Rhys isn't quite so twitchy-rabbity when the chips are down, is he?

-Ianto with the melee combat and being all fierce and stuff. I could get used to that.

-Scrapbook. Hee. As if.

-Interesting that they're letting Rhys remember. That's totally not going to come back to bite them in the ass later at all.

-Jack seems to have a serious crush on Gwen. Hm. I'm trying to figure out why this is odd to me. I think the whole Jack-Gwen-Rhys triangle thing from a story perspective is interesting because it's kind of a representation for Gwen trying to be balanced between the mundane world and the Torchwood world. What's odd about it to me though is that Jack is in this little triangle when he's in a perpetual fractal googleplexehedron with the entire universe. Also when it could be easily resolved with a threesome or some variation of polyamory. I think what bugs me most about it is it's effect on Ianto, who I seem to have grown attached to. Or maybe Owen's right. The answer to every problem at Torchwood is an orgy. *nods*

Torchwood 2.05 - Adam

-Hey, was that guy always in the intro sequence or is it just this episode?

-Ooo! Mind games! And they're all gonna get saved because Rhys is on the outside and knows about them and hasn't had Adam mess with his brain

-The Owen/Tosh thing just got even more mangled. "Kissing in work. Wasn't expecting it." Sure sign of brain messed-up-ness in Torchwood.

-Owen as a meek, stumbling little mousy guy is very disturbing.

-Ooo! It's Grey!!! Grey's a redhead! Cool.

-Oh! Grey's a boy? Okay, for some reason I kept thinking girl.

-Hee! Owen with the monitor mouse. Aw.

-DAD??? Oooo!!! Jack backstory! Boeshane Peninsula!

-GREY'S HIS LITTLE BROTHER!!! OMG!!!! Eee! *flails incoherently* I don't even care that I was totally wrong!

-Hee! Of course Ianto keeps a diary! Bet he's on LJ too.

-Oh Owen. Ow. Why don't you own up to this stuff when you're in your right mind and stop with the insanity already?

-I'm liking Rhys a lot more this season than last, even though he seems to have more of a temper to him. Maybe because he isn't so much of a one-note dependent character, there solely to provide a stress-point for Gwen, and more of a character in his own right?

-Ohhh... Oh Ianto, don't let the creepy fake man near your diary.

-Oh wow. That whole memory planting thing with Adam making Ianto into a 21st century Jack the Ripper? Holy crap. Somebody kick his ass. *tucks Ianto's poor brain into a soft bed with a cup of cocoa and heads out to beat nine kinds of crap out of Adam* Grr.

-Gwen and Rhys are cute this year. I really do like that they've got Rhys being more than just an annoyed voice on the phone and someone for Gwen to feel conflicted about. Very glad they didn't kill him off last year in the finale like they were apparently planning.

-Ianto does creepy psycho thrill-killing murderer well. Wow. What other stuff has this actor done?

-Jack bringing out the most accurate lie detector ever and then not believing it when it's telling him something bad about Ianto? Awww!

-Eee! No blood sample! Yay continuity!!!!!

-Owen would make a damn creepy stalker. Just saying.

-Ooo... hypnosis! Excellent source of character backstory.

-Owen is a bit of a damaged puppy, isn't he... Aw. Toshiko's got a few issues too.

-Take the pill. Jack, take the pill. No, don't let him near your memories Jack, take the pill. Take the- Ooo! Whirligigs! Arg! No! Of course it's a trap and Adam's bonding himself to your deepest most suppressed memories, Jack, you dumbass.

-Taking the pill and losing all the memories of his father to get rid of Adam. Oh, Jack.

-Also I have a weakness for tough, emotionally-tortured, self-sacrificing men sliding down walls into unconsciousness. Apparently. Ahem.

-Owen. Okay, so, underneath Owen's sarcasm and wall of self-preservatory bullshit, he's a mousy little geek that's hopelessly in love with Tosh. Who he doesn't respond to the advances of when he's back to himself because he doesn't want to run the risk of getting hurt because unlike the fling he had with Gwen, he deeply cares for Tosh, perhaps more even than he did for the airplane lady from last seasons doomed encounter, cares in a way that scares him and exposes too much of himself to pain and rejection, so he shuts it all down and leaves Tosh feeling like no one sees anything special about her again, still, some more. Oh god these two are going to kill me with this aren't they?

Torchwood 2.06 - Reset

-No Adam in the credits this time. Very sneaky, show.

-Now, who the hell gets Ianto to hop to and let them into Torchwood? Martha? Hehe. Cute.

-Martha's with UNIT? Oh that's cool. Redcaps! Yay!

-"We were under the same Doctor." *snerk* I suddenly have this intense need to say "You wish!"

-"Who'd assassinate a student?"/"Student loans company?" Hee! Oh yes, though they tend to do it in a long, drawn-out way that makes a needle in the eye look like fun. :-P

-Bugs! Bleaurgh!

-Oh, that's cool. Just after Martha says "I've been in worse places and you know it" there's a hint of Doctor Who incidental music in the background. *glee*

-Hello? Random cut glass decanter of hard alcohol behind yellow railing (bottom right corner of screen) when Owen goes and stops Jack for a chat. Who's got a stash, then?

-Is this Pink day? Ianto's wearing pink, and Martha's wearing pink almost exactly the same color.

-Who's Chris Escherwood?

-And Nurse woman at Pharm is in pink too!

-And Tosh has a pinky-purple shirt on under the grey top thing.

-Aw, Tosh finally got Owen to un-wall enough to agree to a date! I bet this means that... *glares at spoilers* Sigh.

-Lock picking contacts! They're going to be yelling at her through those soon, I bet.

-Aaaand Gwen's in red. Is there something I'm missing here?

-Hee! Remote desktop!

-The alarm noise they're using, that high quick electronic bleeping, is very familiar, can remember it playing over a person running in slow motion, a gunshot.... where's it- Ooo!! It's the airport alarm sound from "12 Monkeys"!!! Yippee! \o/

-Ooo... temporally mutated immune system cells. That's nifty!

-'Funky'? Did he say her immune system was 'funky'?

-Hee! Zombie driver!

-Torchwood: In yer IT Systems, crashin' yer databanks, wipin' yer records.

-...See, from accidental spoiler exposure I knew Owen was going to die there. And I also know what happens next. So the impact of that entire scene was completely absent for me. This is why I'm a spoilerphobe. Arg.

Torchwood 2.07 - Dead Man Walking

***CAUTION!! THIS REACTION MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON 2 AND 3 SUPERNATURAL. If you are trying to remain unspoiled for those episodes, skip the small lines between the spoiler-warning lines.***

-Ouch, nasty gunshot wound.

-Why exactly are they bothering with an autopsy, it's not like they weren't all there when it happened.

-Yep, go Jack. Spoiled for this bit.

-Hello, creepy little psychic girl, where did you come from?

-Yep. Saw this spoiler too. Darn screencaps. What's with all the weevils, though?

-Maybe it didn't work because you need the knife? Yeah, or not. I figured.

-Ooo! Glove twitching. That's different. As is Owen not being connected to Jack. Hmm...

-"Is it still necrophilia if I'm conscious?" Ha! Owen.

-Ooo... the thing in the darkness again?

-What did he sa- OMG DEMON!!!! TOTALLY A SUPERNATURAL BLACK-EYED DEMON!!!!! OMG THERE MUST BE CROSSOVER FIC FROM THIS SOMEWHERE!!! *flails*

-Ahem. So I'm glad I didn't get spoiled for that bit.

-Everyone's still wearing pink?? And the same clothes?

-Ooo... funky 'Owen goes to bars' camera.

-Hahahahahahahah! Oh poor Owen! Oh poor, poor Owen. Oh I shouldn't laugh, but 'No blood' Hee!

-Aw. Jack and Owen in the drunk tank. The zombie and the immortal. Just aw. And a bit of yech since Owen has to have gotten some of that Guiness-barf up his nose.

-Ooo, black-eyed demon boy was talking straight to the CCTV... ooo.

-"Stay here!" Alone, in the middle of the parking lot, while you're dead and possessed and weevils want you. Cue the demon taking over? No?

-Kneeling weevils. Where have we seen that before...? Ooo! Sleeper cell woman? Is the sleeper cell part of this inbound demon thing? And it's all connected to the weevils and the thing waiting in the Dark? But... I thought that was supposed to be the big CGI demon from last season, Abbadon? Didn't he have that guy on the planet going around the black hole with the eyes and the tattoos? Also, what happened to Bilis Manger??? Dangling plotline, dammit!

-DEMON! \o/ (Hee! Seriously, where are the crossovers?)

-Alright, so what's he saying? I'm getting something like; "Mercurian Kolbassa." Uhhhh sausage from Mercury? "Diolch Minos." Well, diolch is 'thank you' in Welsh (*pats Susan Cooper's "The Grey King"*) and Minos was an ancient king of Crete who... uh, heh. Became a judge of the dead in Hades, so that totally works. "Mir Cabal" A secret cult that worships the now-crashed Russian space station? Hm. Uh. Maybe not. Let's see what the Torchwood dohickey thinks....

-Ah. "I shall walk the Earth and my hunger shall know no bounds." So that's where the sausage from Mercury comes in...

-"I've got a bad feeling about this." No, really Gwen? Are you sure about that, what with your undead co-worker's eyes turning black and him spouting things in a language you've never heard of? A bad feeling. I'm astounded.

***SUPERNATURAL Season 2-3 SPOILER WARNING!!!***

-So, are we having a Demon war in the Torchwood 'verse too? Is the Rift tied to the Devil's Gate? Where are the crossovers!?

-Messiah of the Weevils... So, is Owen now the Torchwood version of Sam, and the Weevils are demons??

***SUPERNATURAL Season 2-3 SPOILER WARNING OVER!!!***

-"Are we seriously going to act on something she's Googled?" Why not? Works for Sam and Dean.

-Oh lordy, the fight with the glove! I couldn't stop laughing. Especially when it was doing the "Thing from Addam's Family" finger walk thing.

-Ianto... a field hockey stick? Really? An arsenal of Earth and alien weapons, and you pick a field hockey stick? The glove doesn't even have shins!

-And it wouldn't be a fight with a disembodied had with out a 'facehugger' bit... Did it just turn Martha into a Weevil? Ah. No, just aged.

-And Owen gets a firearm just in time to hit 100% on the 'I am a portal to Hell' meter. But drops it. Hm. Ooo! But at 100%, the creepy voice can speak in English!

-DEMON!!!!! DEMON SMOKE!!!! EEEEE!!!! Seriously! Crossovers, y'all!

***SUPERNATURAL Season 2-3 SPOILER WARNING!!!***

-Oh come on. It's just a black-eyed grunt, not the Yellow-eyed Demon or Lilith!

***SUPERNATURAL Season 2-3 SPOILER WARNING OVER!!!***

-Ooo. Jack had a very intense look as the smoke shadow came over him there... did it take him over?

-Where, why the... what the... Jack wakes up in a car after it came at him? What the heck happened there.

-Durock, eh? So it's a Russian Card game? An enemy of Thor and the Silver Surfer? A Canadian brand of dry wall? Hm?

-Head straight for ICU. Efficient bastard.

-"It keeps getting re-directed to Weight Watchers" Ha! I'm not surprised, considering some of the wacky associations the text ads in Google make.

-Oh Owen... Oh wow... Oh hey! Is that the same stairs from 'Last of the Timelords'?

-Yay Owen with the heroism!

-Not to insert realism into the lovely epic level battle with Death we appear to be having, but why aren't the rest of them breaking the huge windows to get in? Ooo. Unless they have all thought about it and know that if any of them go in, one of them will give it it's thirteenth death. Ooo.

-Hee. That door in front of Tosh was on a Hero moment timer. And Owen's about to get a slap in the face from her... Or not. Hm.

That was cool. Want crossovers. *nods*

Sigh. Must go sleep now. Stupid work wants me to be conscious while I'm there. Bleah. :-P

I have to say, your reactions to Torchwood have me in giggle fits. (Both this one and the other one.)

Anyway, I agree, Rhys this season is so much better than he was last season. He's so much more fleshed out and that makes him so awesome. And he's so sweet, too, taking a bullet for Gwen just 'cause he loves her. But I really don't like Jack's little crush on Gwen, mostly 'cause I like Rhys and how dedicated he is to her and everything, and Jack's little crush thingy screws with that. Unless they have a foursome with Jack, Gwen, Rhys, and Ianto. That works.

Owen rocks this season, too. His whole dead but not really thing is just so cool, and the effects on him are pretty believable. Especially not being able to have sex. That just makes sense, you know? And that rocks. And it makes me burst out in laughter because Owen being unable to have sex is just poetic justice, considering how in the very first episode of the whole thing he stole that aphrodisiac perfume stuff just to get laid.

But, yeah, the whole black eyes and black smoke induced much squee. The whole time, I'm waiting for Sam and Dean to show up and fill Death full of rock salt. And splash Death with holy water, gallons of it. I bet that'd work. Crossovers really, really, really need to happen.

Oh, and your confusion as to Jack waking up in the car after the black smoke passed over him? I'm thinking it killed him and he just 'woke up' from being dead, or however you wanna call it. It took me a couple of viewings to get it, too. I think they did that scene badly, as it was confusing.

Your reaction thingies rock, and you should keep doing them. *Nodnod*

hee! you have such great reactions!

Ianto & the field hockey stick - hey, those things are solid wood & made for bashing your opponent....I'd pick one :D

Durock totally made me think drywall too :)

The trouble with crossovers in these fandoms is that that they are all PWP. *sigh* I'd love a nice, meaty case fic xo

[identity profile] sandrinnad.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
doesn't the field hockey stick vs plasma rifle question haunt the dreams of every Torchwood viewer? I'm surprised it hasn't drifted its way into Supernatural, Star Trek, and every other fandom out there! *innocently bats eyes* ;D

and ya....the stick is much less likely to melt Owen....the room....the Hub.... :) Owen can be a bit of a jerk, but still :)

besides - if you look at a horse what looks like a shin is actually the back of the hand so it all works out :D

[identity profile] kagekanecavi.livejournal.com 2008-04-08 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
My guess is that it knew Owen could kick it's butt and split, going through Jack on its way out. Though that is a good question - did the thing lose a death when Jack came back or not? For that matter, how come it was able to just take a death from Jack instead of accidentally latching on and gorging itself to death like Abaddon? *Also ponders*

By the way, that smirking Dean icon of yours rocks. I can't help but grin whenever I see it.

(Anonymous) 2008-04-10 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe Death didn't get a death from Jack at all and that was part of the reason why he left? Since Jack's just gonna revive, he didn't get the energy off Jack like he would have with a normal person, and figured since that was just weird and Owen could beat him up, he was gonna go someplace else. It kinda fits, since keeping a death from Jack would have pushed it over the edge before the showdown and since Death losing the energy or whatever from killing Jack doesn't make much sense.

I can't shake the feeling that somewhere further down the line it's going to be revealed that everything since that point has been happening in the brain of a 'recovering from extreme death again' Jack.

If that were to happen, I would get on a plane to London and throttle Russel T. Davies. Or whoever would decide to do that. Because there's just all the STUFF that's been happening that would just be horrific if it ended up being all in Jack's head.

Though I do endorse the idea of a dream episode in general. Just not one that takes the plot line over several episodes, because that's too gimicky. Or if they take the plot over several episodes, knowing it's a dream would probably make it not quite as gimicky.

*Squees a bit* And you used the icon again! You rock! Anyway, you made it? Cool. It's nice and simple, which is good, because simplicity is very often the best route to go.

[identity profile] kagekanecavi.livejournal.com 2008-04-10 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that was me, forgot to sign in. I hate it when I do that.

[identity profile] kagekanecavi.livejournal.com 2008-04-11 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I've got an image of Death now, Gnawing on Jack's head like a big dog gnawing on a really hard rubber ball, and Jack standing there with his arms crossed going 'Nope, sorry.'
Hehehe!! That is an adorable mental image!

Bwahahah. But we all already know he's evil, right?
Oh, yeah, totally. There's just too much proof towards it for it not to be true.

[identity profile] wynterwolf47.livejournal.com 2008-04-15 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
-Jack bringing out the most accurate lie detector ever and then not believing it when it's telling him something bad about Ianto? Awww!

I loved that so very much. **hugs them again, some more**

And re: hockey stick, some of us figured that it was a call back to a bit of innuendo from Jack in Sleeper about bedrooms and hockey sticks. ;-)
