Random: Yay for explosive weather! \o/

Direct quote from a recent Snowfall/Weather warning from Environment Canada:

"An explosively deepening low pressure system offshore will move across south of Vancouver Friday night."

Explosively. I don't think I've ever seen 'explosively' used regarding the actions of a weather system in these parts before. o.O

The temperature is being predicted to drop from +8C to -10C in a period of about 24 hours, and they are saying snow. Maybe lots (10-15 cm), maybe not so lots (2-4 cm). I suspect they have no idea, but there's big red warnings all over the region map anyway. On previous occasions when they've said "10 to 15 centimetres" we've gotten three feet. Or none. That's BC. Meteorology and guessing run about par for accuracy, I think.

I'm rooting for snow. I love winter.

I know! We here in Seattle are looking forward to it as well. We're not supposed to get the snow, but we are getting that fun cold snap! And slush on Saturday!

We've gotten no real snow to speak of yet here. I'm still hoping for a white Christmas though. *fingers crossed*

Last I saw our forecast had full-on snow all weekend, which I really am hoping for.

I think we've had maybe one white (snow falling Christmas Eve/Day) Christmas here in the past thirty odd years. There have been years go by where it never snows at all, so snow on a full moon weekend would be super awesome.

True, but where you find explosions, you find shrapnel, right? Have you never seen High-Speed Sideways Rain? ;) Also, I don't know what protects against concussive damage.

I noted that they did change 'explosively' to 'rapidly' this morning. I think people may have been a tad freaked.
