My amusing thought of the day.

Quick post from work. I was just struck by a random thought.



According to recent photos, Jared and Jensen appear to be growing some facial scruff, right? Well, I got to thinking: The hockey jerseys they were wearing at the Red Bull race are Vancouver Canucks Jerseys. The Vancouver Canucks managed to get into the playoffs. The NHL playoffs are on right now and started just this past week, I think. The tradition among hockey players and serious hockey fans is to not shave until the team the person is on or rooting for has either won or been eliminated.... I think they're growing playoff beards!!! For the Vancouver Canucks!! :-D

This leaves me with several thoughts.

1) YAY CANUCKS! One of the few teams I ever half-follow in hockey and as close to a home-town team as I can get!

2) As a Canadian, I love that the guys have assimilated that much Canadian culture and might be that fannish about hockey! \o/

3) The longer the Canucks (who are currently beating the snot out of the St. Louis Blues in the conference quarterfinals) remain alive in the playoffs the longer the beards will get. The Stanley Cup finals usually end in late May or early June, if I recall correctly. Last I heard the Canucks were looking pretty decent this year, so there could be some serious Grizzly Adams face-fur coming up. :-)

4) Jared and Jensen are going to have to stay out of the sun until the Canucks are done, or Sam and Dean might have truly effed up facial tan-lines when filming starts for next season. XD

5) OMG THEY LOVE HOCKEY!1!! \o/



Anyway, I'm probably wrong, (or this might be old news because I'm avoiding damn near everything due to rampant spoilers,) but the thought hit me at work just now, and I had to share it because I can't stop grinning. :-D

And now I'm going to get back to work, and get back to you all later. :-P

Your sports theory is possible, but more likely due to both their basketball teams being in the playoffs. If fact, they are playing against each other as we speak.

HOCKEEEEEEYYYYY! Canucks are my #2 in the playoffs after the Penguins. So they better get far...and beat the Sharks and/or Redwings when it comes down to that.

I really hope this is true! I love sports. I love people who love sports. And boys who loves sports so much they grow beards for good luck? I love those boys.

They could also be Mavs and Spurs playoff beards! Nowitzki's gone that route before. Although it made him look a bit like a disreputable Viking, I thought it was pretty hot. But I'm predictable like that.

So I am currently watching a playoff game(but Flames), so I am with you on that theory. Would be sooo good if they had absorbed that much of Canadian culture;)

They are growing beards?! *shocked* I'm not exactly a beard-girl and not enthusiastic about this thought, no matter what reason. But if they really are playoffbeards they hopefully will be shaved soon (well sooner than if they were normal beards). I haven't seen any photos or screencaps yet but the few shots from season 1&2 where Jared is a bit more stubbly than normal are enough to make me crinckle in horror

Last I heard, the Canucks are one of the better favoured teams this year, which is kind of an alien concept to me since most of the time I was growing up, they were the bottom of the heap, it seemed.

There are some pictures from some recent promo stuff they're doing down in Australia, you can see the facial hair there. They'll be back to normal before the filming for next season starts, no worries. :-D

Asylum's at the end of May? If they're for basketball instead, they should be done with soon, I uess, and if they are for hockey, the Canucks will probably have choked by then. Playoffs usually finish late May/early June. That is, if they are indeed playoff beards, they might not be. :-)

Dunno if the beards are sports-related, a belated tacit attempt to join the crew in that "grow a moustache" Kim Manners thing the SPN crew reportedly did as memorial to him through the end of the season or some other reason. But Jensen apparently did mention at this AHBL con that he grows out the beard on breaks to help separate himself from Dean, get out of the mindframe or somesuch.

Maybe all of the above, lol.

Someone over on the Rogue Events board for Asylum said they might be something to do with a tribute to Kim Manners? Not sure what beards have to do with anything!

I do like your idea though - I can't argue with a tribute to Kim Manners, coz I'd grow a beard myself for that man (and it's not beyond the realms of possibility!) but I can hate it if it's sport related!
