if you really, really want to be talked out of it then all the reasons you list above, especially the ones to do with time and plot bunnies taking sunny vacations when called upon to work, are excellent reasons not to do it. :)
if you actually want to do this then everything listed above is but a series of flimsy excuses to not do something you know you'd enjoy :D
"Writing isn't a source of pain. It's psychic chemotherapy. It reduces your psychological tumours and RELIEVES your pain." Fr Odd Thomas, Dean Koontz
Anyway, that is the best reason I could think of for you to do it--writing helps keep me sane, and I am thinking you need all the sanity you can grab at the moment;)
I don't know whether I want to be talked out of it or not.
I think I'm leery because the last thing like this I signed up for got me a randomly generated prompt I couldn't connect with, which resulted in a story not many people read, which resulted in me getting very discouraged about my ability to write. This seems different, though, in that you get a bunch of prompts that someone's actually requested, so it's less likely to be unrelatable...
It's not so much that it's an excuse to write, I have a rampaging herd of reasons and things to write, it's just that it's adding another thing to the pile, and adding structure and deadlines. Still thinking.
ah, go for it! but you've got a week or so to decide yet, so no need to worry yet :) and it does look like you'll have some choice of prompts as well as being able to say what you prefer to write....sounds decently well organized?

You've still got a while to ponder. But I hope you'll join me in the pool!

At the rate the secondary plot is developing, it may take years to finish even if that was the only thing I was writing. It's gone epic.
