Recs: Sherlock Rec Party!
The Sherlock comm has set up a weekly Sunday Recday. These are just my recs so I can link this post to theirs.
FIC
GEN:
Kid in a Candy Store by
fialleril
Summary: “I’m very disappointed in the adult world, John. Your brains are even more infantile than I’d thought.”
(Sherlock and John in a sex toy shop, and yes, it's Gen. Poor John.)
The Rebel and His Cause by
the_gabih
Crossover: Sherlock/Whoniverse - 'Holmes and Watson are part of the London resistance during The Year That Never Was.'
(This works. Also ow.)
Bored Games by
patster223
Summary: Sherlock is bored (BORED) and John decides that they should play Cluedo. In retrospect, it was a truly awful decision.
(Awful for John maybe, delightful to read.)
Aftermath by
tridecaphilia
Summary: They were people, even if Sherlock doesn’t care.
(A very cool post-1.03 fic from the perspective of a minor episode-only character.)
Fashion Forward by
innie_darling
Summary: Sherlock Holmes, Supermodel
(Not nearly as much crack as it sounds, and an interesting take on Sherlock's clothing habits.)
The Arms of London Bridge by
takadainmate
Prompt: John/Sherlock plus tentacles.
(John, Sherlock and a tentacle monster, and yet it's Gen. I can't not rec this. Utter crack.)
'SQUINT'*
From Irene - with love and E-numbers by
elapsedspiral
Summary: In which John compliments, Sherlock masticates and Irene wins, again.
(A *koff* sweet take on the possibility of Irene Adler.)
The Refining Fire, Hide and Seek and Heaven and Hell by
arwen_kenobi
Fire can burn things to ashes, but it can also burn things together.
(A massive post 1.03 trilogy of sorts; maybe not massive in word count but epic in scope nonetheless. The first can be read on its own, and is also the set-up for the other two which are alternate perspectives of each other. Whumpage, H/C, pain of many types, and BAMF!Everybody. Mostly.)
The Dying Detective by
blackdog_lz
Prompt: A modern rewrite of the Dying Detective, but with a little twist.
("A little twist" indeed. Angst aplenty.)
Paper Chase by
sam_storyteller
Crossover: Sherlock/White Collar. Summary: One criminal consultant. One consulting detective. One serial killer. And one perhaps inadvisable bet...
(I have never seen a single episode of White Collar and still found this exceptionally awesome.)
Explosions, Literal and Otherwise by
starjenni
Summary: Sherlock does not react well to idea that John might be dead.
(No, he definitely doesn't.)
*Squint = If you look at it one way, it's plain Gen, if you squint, you might see slash or pre-slash.
HET
The Art of Scheduling, or, How Mycroft Came to Realize He was Well and Truly Fucked by
igrab
Author's Summary: It suited him, and he assumed it suited her for she'd never given any indication otherwise.
(Anthea/Mycroft. PG-13, there's nookie but it's off-screen *points at subtitle* Indeed.)
OTHER THAN FIC
RECLIST
Fairyd123's Epic reclist
fairyd123 has a lot of really good things on this reclist, some of it's been rec'd in other places, but re-reccing never hurts. There's so much being produced so fast in this fandom, it's impossible to keep up with it all and good things can easily fall between the cracks if people don't speak up and rec.
REFERENCE MATERIAL
the clothes make the man, fashion in sherlock by
etanol
A good rundown of the costume and clothing for Sherlock, great reference for fanfic or costuming.
FANVID**
Telephone by
burndtlembas
Music: Telephone by Lady Gaga (Feat. Beyonce)
(How often do these characters use phones? This vid was destined to be.)
**-Challenge! I know people are making so many vids and fanmixes for Sherlock and this isn't even a recent one, but due to technical/situational issues, it's rare I can actually watch or listen to any. (And if anyone has a link to that Mycroft to Rhianna's 'Umbrella' one I swear I saw once, I will give you all the cookies.) So! Challenge to take back to the Comm's Rec Party! Fanvids and Fanmixes. Rec 'em if you got 'em!
So, now it's REC PARTY TIME!
If you've seen something amazing that you think more people in the Sherlock fandom should have the chance to enjoy, rec itin the comments at the main Sunday Recday post at
sherlockbbc and REC ALL THE THINGS there! (You're welcome to rec in the comments here, but this is just my journal, and your recs will have a vastly wider audience on the comm's new weekly posts.) Fic, art, vids, icons, comms, fanmixes, upcoming challenges, whatever. Rec anything!!!
(And to my regular f-list who are now no doubt very confused, welcome to the madhouse. ^.^)
