Sherlock recs
Short this time, sorry. It's been a hell of a week.

Family Affairs by
s0mmerspr0ssen
Summary: When John's family is involved in a car accident, only nine-year-old John survives with bad damage to his shoulder. With no relatives left to raise him, John ends up in a children's home and quickly loses any hope that he will ever be considered for adoption. That is, until the Holmes family announces their interest in adopting a brother for their brilliant but troublesome son Sherlock.
(An achingly adorable and wistful AU, quite brilliant. Ten chapters plus an epilogue)
The Light at the End by
s0mmerspr0ssen
Summary: In order to make sure that the murderer is caught, Sherlock fakes a coma. However, nobody but Mycroft knows Sherlock isn't actually comatose. Including John.
(I really do not have the words to describe how amazing this story is. All the characters actions and reactions ring true. 11 chapters plus an epilogue.)

Warnings: This is dark, and has triggers for death of a family member, childhood trauma, and claustrophobia, as well as allusions to suicide. Please avoid if any of these things are triggers.
Summary: Sherlock lost his father at an early age.
(This is a heart-wrenching depiction of young Sherlock and his way of interacting with personal grief and death, echoing through to adult Sherlock. It can be a hard read if you've lost someone, so please heed the warnings.)

Sherlock/XKCD mashups by

(For the few people who won't have already seen this, this is brilliant whether you read the XKDC web comics or not. Worksafe, some profanity and some implied Sherlock/John)
If you've seen something amazing that you think more people in the Sherlock fandom should have the chance to enjoy, please rec it at the Sunday Recday post at
sherlockbbc.
