SPOILER CAUTION: Sherlock Series 2

Apparently there will be an early screening of the first episode of Sherlock Series 2 in a theatre in London *looks at clock* today, at about 6PM UK time, AKA in about 10 hours from this posting. Spoilers may start rolling out in the media or in online fandom via attending fans after that time, so if you are avoiding spoilers for Sherlock Series 2, (which I am, as entirely as I possibly can) click cautiously.

Why on earth will they be screening the episode so far in advance of it being shown on tv? I have been hearing "spring" for it; maybe I'm wrong? Unless they're waiting for audience reaction to possibly edit it further, but I can't imagine they could do much with one of their leads on the opposite side of the globe. It's not as if they can redo scenes.

It's not easy to avoid spoilers. Ick.

a lot of Sherlock fans are coming in from older Holmesian fandom iterations where nothing has been a spoiler since 1927
Ha! Yeah, I've kind of given up on that aspect. I expect anything that has already been done in ACD canon doesn't count to some people as spoilers. I'm trying very hard to remember that I should treat ACD canon that might be adapted for future episodes as spoilers! Just last night I made notes on a story I want to recommend next time I post recs, and I have no idea how to warn for spoilers, because the author's list of spoilers includes ACD canon, s2 spoilers (which to date I think have not been very big, but how would I know?), and s2 speculation. I have no idea whether it will actually spoil anyone for s2. I suspect it's a bit of a spoiler for a couple of specific ACD works, but they've been so changed by the author that I'm not sure anyone who read the story and then went to ACD would be able to predict much of what's coming from the story. Whew! I'm leaning towards writing "Spoilers: might possibly have spoilers for anything, everything, or nothing; I have no idea."

May 6? MAY 6? That's half a year away!

I may have to give in and just let spoilers happen to me once the episodes have aired in the UK, because the alternative may be to drop out of fandom between the time it shows in the UK and the time it shows in the US and Canada (and I'm not prepared to do that). Then I have to remember not to spoil anyone else. Ai.

Have seen spoiler posts, but they are nicely cut. I already know the theme of the three episodes unfortunately, but I was rather expecting them anyway (Wombat). At least I will avoid twitter for a while.
