Random fannish thought of the day

Three actors who would be good in some project together playing brothers or blood relations: Jeremy Renner, Nathan Fillion and Martin Freeman.

Maybe I'm weird though. I don't think they look exactly alike, I just think they have similar types of facial structure that would lend itself to playing family. Side-by-side for comparison.

Tricky for them to play brothers though, because they were all born the same year, 1971. (Is fraternal triplets a thing that can happen? Or Nathan could play a cousin and Martin and Jeremy could play fraternal twins because they are more similar to each other than to Nathan.)

Also born in 1971, Richard Armitage and David Tennant. '71 was a very good year for actors. Also, David Tennant appears to have done a sequel to "Nativity!" which starred Martin Freeman. So I'm going to need to track that down at some point.

In other news, I'm very distractible, and am going to go to sleep before I do anything sillier than posting this.

You may know this, but reportedly, Simon Pegg has said that he cannot appear with either John Simm or Martin Freeman because they all look too much alike. He has, of course, appeared with John Simm in an episode of Spaced, with Martin Freeman in Hot Fuzz (where Martin had a brief cameo as an unnamed character) and in The Good Night (Martin starred; Simon played the really annoying friend), and they will be in The End of the World together.

Fraternal triplets are rare except in cases of fertility drugs (or IVF or GFT), but they do happen.

I favor John Simm, Simon Pegg, and Martin Freeman as brothers. John and Martin were born just far enough apart (July 1970 and September 1971) that they could be siblings (though I'd pity their mother, were that the case!), but Simon messed up the whole thing by being born in February 1970. Brilliant Husband suggests that they play cousins instead.

Why, no—I haven't given this much thought at all! Why do you ask?

I was gonna say, Martin Freeman and John Simm are a much closer match in my book. :)

Wow, what a movie that would be!!!! (And yes to additional John Simm in anything!!!)

David Tennant's Nativity thing is called Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger. I only know this as there was a massive poster for it at the end of my street! I presume this works outside the UK and I've not had chance to watch it yet so don't know if its any good, but this http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/video/tags/nativity_2012/order:alphabetically#.UNY9J5EgGc0 is the Absolute Radio Breakfast Show nativity that aired Friday. Mr Tennant played the Virgin Mary. As you do.

my neighbour had a little dark haired girl (Abbey) and a her full blood younger brother (Aiden)was blond. At the same time, neighbours' sister had a little girl (Laura) who was the female version of Aiden - there were days between them. if you'd seen them you'd think Aiden and Laura were twins and Abbey was the cousin. Abbey and Aiden did look related, but not as much as Aiden and Laura did.

TL;DR Your actors could still play brothers. it's not about looking like each other

Of course, I would watch most anything with all of the above (and they do have some symmetry in common).

D'oh! They filmed the radio skit. DT was in it last year too and it was hilarious! Hopefully I'll get chance to watch this year's soon!
