NOTE: Tim Horton's Pumpkin Pie Latte
For those in range of a Tim Horton's (mostly Canadians) who might be inclined to order a latte from their seasonal pumpkin-themed beverage options (obviously not you,
lurkingwombat, I know your general opinion of coffee) a small consumer note:
Tim Horton's Pumpkin Pie Latte has as a relatively unheralded topping, some graham cracker pie crust crumble stuff that goes on top of the whipped cream.
I suppose that's there to distinguish it as "Pumpkin Pie" rather than "Pumpkin Spice" in case Starbucks gets snippy about it (even though it's listed as "Pumpkin Spice" on Tim Horton's website). It is quite tasty, but they put it on top of the whipped cream in the lidded cups as well and not having had one of these things before I wasn't aware. I only noticed it before most of it sank to the bottom because I had to reposition the lid to avoid a coffee bath. As one does. :-P
So if you are avoiding gluten or wheat for any reason (or just don't enjoy sludge at the bottom of your cup) ask for the crumble stuff to be left off of your drink. Or if you don't have any issues with wheat or gluten but just don't like sludge, you can ask for a spoon to scoop it off the whipped cream and eat it before it sinks. As I mentioned, it is quite tasty.
This has been a Public Service Announcement from the Caffeine Network.
