SPN Poll: Frigging or Freaking
Just a lightning fast little poll.
I'm writing something and having character diction consistency problems and now I'm curious what other people think:
[Poll #1058210]
ETA: (That last question's a bit confusing. It should more accurately read: "If TV language guidlines were not an issue, do you think the boys would be swearing instead of using words like "freaking/frigging" and "crap"?" Thanks to
peaches for pointing that out.)
I have my own opinions on this, I'm just curious what other people's are. :-)

As far as the swearing because of the censors... I'm sure that's what it really is, but I *love* playing with the trope that John raised them with an iron hand when it came to swearing, and that as a result they *still* tend to watch their language except under extreme circumstances. Dean's more likely to swear than Sam (no, really?), but while I don't *mind* fics in which they swear a lot, I prefer to hold them to the patter of the show.
Except that bullcrap is a horrible word and should just be replaced with bullshit. I mean, honestly.

Only when the situation *really* calls for it / not used casually
I'm not sure if this is what you meant or not, but I want to explain that I think they would still use friggin'/freakin' casually, i.e. "Just get in the friggin' car!"
And save actual curses for when they're really needed. For example, at the end of Night Shifter. "We are so f*cked."
