Name that song! Please!
There was a song on the local radio station this morning that they did not identify, and the opening of it sounded damned close to Dean's season 2 ringtone. Now, while waking up and going, "Dean, answer your damn phone" is a fine way to wake up (beats all hell out of waking up because blond Trollie dolls are coming in through the bedroom window, like yesterday morning :-P) the song is now driving me nuts.
I've googled every bit of lyric I caught, and it's not showing up. I don't even know if it's from the right era for Dean, but it sounded a lot closer than "Supermassive Black Hole" or any other suggestion I've heard does.
So, for any google-fu blackbelts looking for a challenge, or any music nuts, here's all I know:
-Opening sounds a lot like Dean's season 2 ringtone, heavy guitar
-Lyrics include: "lay of the land" "little black dress" "walk the walk"
-Theme of the song seemed to be quite horndoggy and girl-chasey and could see why Dean might pick it ;-P
-Male vocalist, did not notice any background singing (but really, I was half-awake and just glad not to have to fight off the Trollies again)
-Suitable for airplay on a small Canadian city 'Rock' genre radio station at 7:10 AM on a long weekend Saturday morning.
-No idea what era, could be classic, could be newer.
Anyone got any ideas?

and by any chance does the radio station have a website??/ I know a couple in toronto will post their song-list and you can look in/around 7am and see whats there..
if all else fails email the station.. they're usually more than happy to pass along what song it was :)

It does make me think that it's a newer song though, if it hasn't hit any lyric archives. :-/

I remember we all went on the hunt for "Ashes to Ashes" by Tarbox Ramblers in BUABS last season and NO ONE could find it.. I still don't know how someone figured it out :S but we did the whole google-fu thing too.. so yeah I'd agree it might be a newer-ish song.. but even then you SHOULD have SOMETHING pop up in google OTHER than your jounal when you type in the three blocks of lyrics

I swear - today must be called "the day on which nothing shall be found!" day.. I've spent the last... 3 hours looking for an article (or 2!) on the differences between the two "worlds" in "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" and there should be TONS of stuff... but alas! there is NOTHING!
and the one article i COULD find which was cited by a bunch of less-than-legit website articles, i have to pay 20$ a MONTH to get *facepalm*

I finally decided to use an essay from a C.S. Lewis website that runs an annual convention that has references out its ears :) I figure references = good hahaha

Their website doesn't seem to have any kind of 'now playing' listing either, just blurbs on the themed programs and contests.

hmm well I wouldn't discount him getting back to you today... if he IS the only one in the building the only thing I can imagine them doing is surfing the internet all day ;)
and good luck finding out! now I want to know as well! lol

When the station's not on the automated feed (which comes from a network provider) the booth is run the old way, with cartridges for songs, ads, station id blocks... The only computer influence is a computer system that gives them a list of songs they are allowed to play at that time of day and which commercial is scheduled to play in what hour, and there's a physical log book for signing off that the sponsor's ads got played. The dj gets the day's printout and collects the cartridges from the library room down the hall before getting into the booth, and if they forget one they have to run down the hall to get it. Occasionally, there is some very dead air if a song ends while the dj is out of the booth. :-P
It's very quaint. And Dean would love their saturday night program, because it's all mullet rock :-D

God I can't wait till i get to go out to BC (hoping maybe this winter?!) as that's where the boyfriends extended family lives, and from what I understand, the toronto-based family ALWAYS goes back haha :\
I'd also love to see how that works because that honestly just sounds TOO COOL!

According to various sources, Dean's ringtone in Season 2 is either Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water, AC/DC's Rock n Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, Scorpions' Rock You Like A Hurricane, or composed for the show. I don't remember which, but either way, which of these was it that the song reminded you of? (Because God forbid it's so easy that it is actually one of these. I checked. It's not.)

in hellat work.I had thought the ringtone was something they had knocked together for the show, but then this song was on the radio this morning and... arg. It'll probably be completely wrong when I re-hear it, but first thing this morning it was a closer match than any of the others are.

They do play awesome music though. Last week there was one day I woke up to "White Rabbit" and two days later I woke up to "Carry On my Wayward Son" so even though their chatter sucks ass, most of their dj's are morons, and their contests are OMG so lame and take up way too much airtime, they're remaining my wake-up station.

Lemee think. Gawd how did morning get so far away :-P ... About the same speed as "Smoke on the Water", but otherwise different.

don't s'pose it's Gavin Friday: "Little Black Dress"? It seems a little slower than you're describing though and doesn't have all the lyrics....
hmmmm....I shouldn't play games I don't have all the pieces for :D
*fingers crossed you hear from the radio station* :)

on the plus side the song above is actually fairly cool :) (I've been listening to it for the last 1/2 hour or so :D) If you're fine with mp3s I can send it if you like & you can totally discount it :)

So I shall counter this by giving you a song that is not it but falls within that music section... just to confuse you ;P
