Yikes! It's almost like there's a conspiracy going on against spoilerphobes. So now it looks like it's not even safe for you to watch the repeats? There was some stuff in there that even I didn't know yet.

edit - it's 5 different things.

Five different times they posted five different spoilers.

Yeah, I heard 5 different things scrolling along the bottom during the episode (or popping up, whatever). DURING the damn episode?! What. The. Fuck. CW?!?! Seriously. Praise the heavens I actually didn't watch the ep tonight. I was thinking about what a filthy raving swearing lunatic I would be right now if I had. Whew! Still pissed though. Now I don't get to watch reruns? Are they going to spoil during season 4 episodes also fo rthe upcoming episodes? We have to bombard them with email about this right now. I mean, its not bad when you can mute the commercials and turn the channel before the preview for the next week but during an episode is ridiculous.

Yeah, its at the bottom of the screen, but its not a crawl. Its more of a pop-up.

Thanks for the warning. I just got cable this month and I've been DVRing the episodes to watch later. I guess I won't be watching this one. Shoot. Back to the old DVDs I guess.

*clings back desperately* OMG, can you see us resorting to "spoiler shields"?! The thought is hilarious and terrifying at the same time. I am hysterically laughing and crying. I went to the actual CW site (not The Source blog) and found a feedback thingy at the bottom, took a few deep breaths, chanted some "ohms" and tried to calmly beg them never to do it again.

*is cheerfully emailing CW about their vileness* I have no idea where to email them out so this seems to be the best bet: http://www.cwtv.com/feedback/comments...I'm being nice about it.

I didn't actually get to see the episode since I'm stuck in the middle of South Dakota and they apparently don't believe in CW but....I'm watching it when I get home and it pisses me off that other people had to see it. And I don't want to worry about it in the future. I like reruns dammit.

I'm glad I (and the others) caught you in time!!!

The CW blew half my circuits last week with the damn crawls. First of all, I hate (with a wildly impressive level of loathing) ANY kind of advert that shows up during the actual show - and that includes the network logo. I also hate crawls, because (a) they activate my motion sickness and (b) they're a DISTRACTION FROM THE SHOW YOU'RE WATCHING. But last week was a rerun, and I thought, "Surely they won't keep this up during the new episodes."

Then, last night...again with the crawls, but they were SPOILERS. I thought, "OMG, Caffienekitty is going to blow every gasket she has." (And you would have a lot of company.) Undoubtedly the promo monkeys thought, "Oooh, we can get people to tune in to see the nifty little tidbits!! And stay glued to the screen!" Except...no. Judging from what I've read, a decent percentage of their audience is going to tune OUT.

I'm a happy little spoiler collector, and these were good ones, so I'm good with it for my own wee self. But you guys? I feel BAD for. And I'm still pissed about the damn crawls *during the show.*

We need to make them STOP THE MADNESS. And stop it NOW.

I'll tell ya, these promos are like weeds. They're gonna drive me to not watch *anything.* I'm already becoming all cozy and warm with my DVDs, which have no &%$#@ promos.

Back in the day, on TWoP, there was a Buffy thread called "Spoiler free is the way to be" and in it, the early viewers (some folks got the feed the night before) would tell what time the guest stars names, etc. stopped showing on the screen so the ultimate spoilerphobes wouldn't have to see a name they recognized and figure out what might happen.

I wasn't that phobic myself, but then last season I saw the trickster's name in the beginning credits for Mystery Spot, and so I knew he was the one causing all the trouble. It didn't ruin the episode for me, but I'd have liked it if I hadn't figured it out.

Let me know how your spoiler shield works out. I might need to fashion one myself.

[identity profile] blucasbabe.livejournal.com 2008-07-18 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean to say the actor's name who played the trickster. Something Speight, Jr., I think?

[identity profile] sadelyrate.livejournal.com 2008-07-18 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't believe this.

Seriously? CW's utterly lost the basic understanding of media English?
I hope they won't do it again. Meanwhile, I'm happy I don't live in the States/get CW/watch reruns.

The Police's "Murder by Numbers" seems fitting enough of a song to get stuck in my head at the moment.

I missed those photos because I crashed through the first season of Supernatural during the summer of 2006, and didn't join the online fandom until a lot later. ;)

But come on...
Sometimes it might work to offer juicy little tidbits, "Watch the Show to Learn More!", but not as spoilers!
Does this tactic even work? You know, on any show?

I'm just happy people got the warning. Some not in time, apparently, but still...

"Mutual Badass Support Society" rocks my socks, though.
