Is it just the crawl across the bottom? Maybe we can rig cardboard spoiler-shields or something, because they'll probably keep doing this until the new season airs. :-P

If they just keep it in that little crawl line at the bottom of the screen, it might be possible to rig up a cardboard spoiler-shield or something, but if they'f got the dancing baloney that takes up the bottom half of the screen, we may be utterly screwed.
THIS BLOWS!!!!!1!!!
Do we have an e-mail for the CW network? Or can we leave lots of annoyed comments over at the CW Source?

Feedback box. Very dangerous for me. I think I'm gonna sleep on that so I avoid capslocking and frothing at them.

I wasn't that phobic myself, but then last season I saw the trickster's name in the beginning credits for Mystery Spot, and so I knew he was the one causing all the trouble. It didn't ruin the episode for me, but I'd have liked it if I hadn't figured it out.
Let me know how your spoiler shield works out. I might need to fashion one myself.

Oh that's awesome. TWoP's policy on what constitutes a spoiler has kept me far away from the majority of it for a while now. According to them, anything that's appeared in a promo or on-air is not a spoiler, so anything revealed last night will be acceptable for open posting over there. :-P
I occasionally have a bad memory for names, especially those I've onl seen once, so I didn't recognise who he was, just that I'd seen the name before.

Oh if I do, I certainly will. I'm trying to estimate how tall the crawl would be to see how much coverage is needed. :-P

I didn't actually get to see the episode since I'm stuck in the middle of South Dakota and they apparently don't believe in CW but....I'm watching it when I get home and it pisses me off that other people had to see it. And I don't want to worry about it in the future. I like reruns dammit.

The CW blew half my circuits last week with the damn crawls. First of all, I hate (with a wildly impressive level of loathing) ANY kind of advert that shows up during the actual show - and that includes the network logo. I also hate crawls, because (a) they activate my motion sickness and (b) they're a DISTRACTION FROM THE SHOW YOU'RE WATCHING. But last week was a rerun, and I thought, "Surely they won't keep this up during the new episodes."
Then, last night...again with the crawls, but they were SPOILERS. I thought, "OMG, Caffienekitty is going to blow every gasket she has." (And you would have a lot of company.) Undoubtedly the promo monkeys thought, "Oooh, we can get people to tune in to see the nifty little tidbits!! And stay glued to the screen!" Except...no. Judging from what I've read, a decent percentage of their audience is going to tune OUT.
I'm a happy little spoiler collector, and these were good ones, so I'm good with it for my own wee self. But you guys? I feel BAD for. And I'm still pissed about the damn crawls *during the show.*
We need to make them STOP THE MADNESS. And stop it NOW.
I'll tell ya, these promos are like weeds. They're gonna drive me to not watch *anything.* I'm already becoming all cozy and warm with my DVDs, which have no &%$#@ promos.

Hee! I totally would have, and spent my entire weekend frothing about it.

OMG I know! Those things are so damned annoying even when they aren't spoilery! It's a tv show, not bloody CNN! *fumes*

This is also really frustrating because we need to keep all the ratings we can get :-( I hope all the Neilsen families really like spoilers. :-/

There's quite a few people writing to the CW about this, there's a link to their comment page up above. I'm hoping everyone who's writing is being as polite as they can about it. I mean it's great that they are trying to find new ways to promote the show, but this is not the way. :-(

Seriously? CW's utterly lost the basic understanding of media English?
I hope they won't do it again. Meanwhile, I'm happy I don't live in the States/get CW/watch reruns.
The Police's "Murder by Numbers" seems fitting enough of a song to get stuck in my head at the moment.

I've had 'Brand New Day' from part 2 of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog running through my head. Particularly the 'you're gonna die!' part. :-P

But come on...
Sometimes it might work to offer juicy little tidbits, "Watch the Show to Learn More!", but not as spoilers!
Does this tactic even work? You know, on any show?
I'm just happy people got the warning. Some not in time, apparently, but still...
"Mutual Badass Support Society" rocks my socks, though.

I was all over ff.net like a disease back then, and managed to sidestep direct exposure to the yellow eyes one but saw the other and completely misinterpreted it, so I was still unspoiled. :-)

I have no idea. I mean, I could see a banner promoting a part of the CW site where spoilers and promos and advance clips where available, and directing people there to maintain an elevated interest level, but yeah. They need real help in their promo department. :-P

Hee! I made this one back at the end of season 2 when I was certain Ellen would be returning in Season 3. I use it now as a "fans supporting fans" or "fans supporting the show" icon. I feel really bad for the people on the east coast that got spoiled, but it is so cool that so many of them immediately went online to try to warn people in timezones further west. That was kind of awesome. :-)
