2009 Year to Date Summary

Well. So far this year I've burned myself cleaning my oven, dropped my toothbrush in the toilet, parked in the wrong spot and had to scrape a frozen note about it off my windshield, had an entire week of hell crammed into a single day at work, and got an unexpected kick in the teeth from Amazon.ca.

So, New Years' Day, I'm at home with what I guess is the post-party urge to clean, and commenced thoroughly cleaning my stove. Did the quick and dirty method of oven cleaning which involves spraying caustic chemicals in an explosive when heated can into a 200 degrees Farenheit oven. No explosions, but I burned my wrist on the oven door, not quite blistering, but right where the watch strap crosses. I really like pain. Really. I do.

Then I dropped my toothbrush in the toilet, which wasn't that bad since I had a new one to replace it, but since it obviously wasn't going to go past the u-bend I had to, er, fish it out. I'll spare you the details of that procedure. :-P

Then out to the car this morning. When I parked on New Year's Eve the lot was coated in a few inches of solid ice, and I had trouble figuring out which spot was mine. So I parked opposite the car I usually park opposite of. Apparently, it was parked in the wrong place, and has since been moved. So I had a sheet of paper with a (more politely-worded than I would have done) message on it saying I was parked in someone else's spot. Of course this had been rained, snowed and snushed on, turning it into paper-mache which then froze solid onto the window, right in the center of the driver's side windshield. Chipped it off with the ice scraper, not too arduous, mostly felt like an utter jerk for having parked in the wrong spot.

Then I got an e-mail from Amazon.ca. I was all excited figuring the stuff I ordered had been shipped. But no. Amazon.ca has, for some reason, after taking people's orders for weeks and saying it'll be shipped on the 31st, decided not to offer the Dr. Horrible DVD after all. They cancelled it out of my pre-existing order that was waiting for it to be shipped. As a result they were going to charge me nearly ten bucks in additional shipping on the remaining two items, since they were two dollars under the minimum order for free shipping. I went and cancelled the rest of the order (including the Doctor Who Visual Dictionary with the detailed diagrams of frigging everything, including the Tardis. Sigh.) and sent them a lovely long note (whoopsie, forgot the capslock was on, aw shucks) saying precisely why I was cancelling the remainder of the order and perhaps a few other sundry miscellaneous words. Ahem.

Aaaaaand then there's work. The less said about work today the better. Actually, one quote: "OMG! I'm so incredibly busy I can't stand it! This is the busiest day of the year! There's so much stuff that's coming in! But I'm going to go to Fabricland now! If anyone needs anything that I should be doing, [CaffieneKitty] can deal with it. Byeeee!"

And no, much as it may seem, that wasn't an expression of how much she trusts my judgement. It's an expression of how much she wanted to get out of working. There was a detailed post-mortem of "You Screwed Everything Up But It's Okay Really Because You're A Moron" when she got back. Also a suggestion that I must be at work tomorrow. Whee. :-P

But, you know what? It's all just minor annoying stuff (well, except work which is major annoying stuff :-P). Things could be endlessly worse, so I'm glad I only have minor petty stuff (and work) to mope about today. Plus, the year has just begun, so things will get better.

This is going to be a fantastic year. I have decreed it thus; let it be so. *claps hands in a youtube-bring-me-a-farting-panda sort of way and nods affirmatively*

....you're not surprised I'm among the morbidly curious I'm sure :D

eee, hate oven cleaner - that stuff scares the crap out of me! You are brave - burnt, but brave :)

good for you for letting Amazon know _exactly_ what you think of them doing that! There's no excuse for doing something like that in that manner - customer service is all guys, especially when people are worried about the economy.

*does not trust self to type reaction to your work day*
*is very impressed at your restraint in using the 'shift' key*

excellent decree! let all creation bow to your words!

*is now morbidly curious about youtube and farting pandas and must wander off to look*

Hereby and forsooth and so forth! *waves in a regal manner*

well....hopefully it's working for you too because so far the white stuff here is bowing to your will :D

Jensen quoting something he saw on TV during a breakfast thing at one of the cons

ah, see I try to stay away from too much stuff like that so I don't get all (well, too seriously) obsessive :)
that and no time :)

and I say again, you find the best stuff :D

Well, with that much bad happening already, I'd say you've gotten several months of good stored up, at the very least. I hope they start tomorrow. *hugs*

Fair enough. ;-)

Hee! I wasn't expecting him to be recognized! *is inordinately pleased*

Ouch!! That is a serious collection of bad mojo. I think I need to send Dean over with his bag of anti-bad-mojo goodies. You could compare burn scars while he paints devil's traps.

Hope things improve from here!

Well, you know I am morbid, among other things..lol So I think Karma owes you a backlog of good fortune--and should speed up the healing of your burn too;) One more day off for me tomorrow, then I get to call people and harrass them because they haven't paid--have I mentioned recently how my job bites...well something explosive:P

Hugs
Sharon

your year so far...

Holy Hellfire!!! i read this out to T here last night and we both think you should get some serious karma back and soon. Though i do love the idea about "being paid to be awesome" though if you think about it a certain way..."I" am being paid for my special brand of "awesomness" :)
Gods, though i hope this month improves for you and soon.
