random: Things that made me smile today
(Left unlocked for Lurkers)
Work is being more soul-crushing than it has in a very long while. I can't even explain why. But whatever.
The result of this has been me trying extra hard to extract as much joy as possible out of the tiniest things, so here are a few extremely random, somewhat fandom-related things that made me smile today.
-
kroki_refur's Episode Review of Doom for 4.16 is complete (Part One and Part Two), and while her reviews are always, always, always awesome, I'd like to direct the attention of the gamers in eyeshot who have seen the episode (particularly
sandrinnad and lurker S.) to point number 87. That one made me fall out of my chair this morning.
-A couple of people are going through my fic backlist and leaving lovely little comments. If I wanted to betruthful melodramatic emo utterly ridiculous, I'd say those comments have been my main source of positive self-worth today, but they did indeed make me smile (and I'll be responding to them later tonight, I hope.)
-The word of the day is thaumaturgy, which is an awesome word. Its etymology breaks down into "wonder-working" which I hadn't known and am obscurely pleased by.
-I was covering the reception area when a client came in with the first name of 'Dean'. We don't get that many first-name Dean's around here. I don't know what he might have thought I was on, but he got the biggest smile I've had at work in the past two weeks. And I called him by his first name. A lot.
-Two of our other clients have the same names as two notably dead Supernatural characters. It gives me a warm little glow to think Jess and Mary weren't killed by the YED, they're alive and well and filing tax returns in Canada. (Although Mary's using her maiden name, which is mildly disconcerting.)
I currently have the office entirely to myself, which means I'm cranking the crappy little speakers on my workstation and attempting to get literally five months worth of work done in a single night. Whee! \o/

I still remember one older lady with the last name of Adams, as her granddaughter used to like to watch the Addams Family. Grandkid had said that her family was like the Addams Family. lol!

Bwahaha XD I KNEW they weren't dead! Hooray!
"And I called him by his first name. A lot."
I can picture that scenario right now... and it's making me laugh. A lot.

Yep! I do agree. I've been reading them pretty much since she started writing them. Her Ten Expressions posts are also awesome, and the origin of the euphemism "fell on pie" ;-)

I have no idea what he might have thought. I was uncontrollably smirky.

And 'falling on pie' never fails to make me laugh. Ever. ;)
