I seriously cannot believe I missed this completely.

In case I'm not the only one that missed this, pay specific attention to Sam's eyes.



Sam's pupils dialate and turn his irises BLACK. Like a demon.

I cannot believe I didn't see that. Twice! Or in screencaps! Or in Refur's review, because I thought she was overcome by Sam's nose rather than anything else!

I didn't see that at all and I've been watching for exactly that kind of thing since Sam showed up in 4.01 working his demon-power mojo with his eyes shut. I cannot believe I didn't see that. I need a new TV brain, obviously.

I'm going to put the defective brain I currently have to sleep now, and possibly think about this later. I feel like an idiot.

Several people have told me they saw Sam with white eyes at one point, and that's freaking me out, because I didn't see it and I can't figure out where it is. SHOW! Why so dark? O_O

That'd be a hell of a jump, though. He wasn't drinking an Alastair slurpee. Could just be a moment of unusually flexible eyeballs.

I'm still baffled that I completely missed this, even after you pointed it out! I was distracted by Sam's nose and you weren't! It must be the apocalypse! :-)

I was distracted by the crazyscary!sam expression, but you're right. Personally I am waiting for the moment where holy water stings or a devil's trap makes him itch (or sumsuch :-O)

I thought I'd imagined it at first - I was waving at the screen going "Look at his EYES!" and my mother (a very big SN fan!) was looking at me like I was an idiot.

It was really clever how they did it because of the windscreen wipers going backwards and forwards it kind of obscured Sam's face with water on the glass, so it was incredibly subtle!

I missed it entirely, I watched the scene a couple times and just went "Oh, hey, callback to Mystery Spot." and thought it was odd in some way but could not figure out how, even after screencaps and Refur capslocking. I'm bad with subtle lately. :-/

Even a moment of baby Sam in high school. I could be paranoid BUT I'm thinking there is something to it!

They had baby!Sam have a yellow eyeflash when YED fed him the blood, and I think it's supposed to be directly demon blood related, but I don't know. It's possible. It's a hard one to tell from a distance.

Don't feel like an idiot. I heard people talking about it and STILL DIDN'T SEE IT. And finally saw it on Refur's review. But even then it took me a minute of, "Why is she posting this sort of weird, blurry, odd looking...why does Sam look so odd....HOLY SHIT!!!!!" sort of thinking. My brain is in slo-mo apparently.

Mine's in slower mo. I didn't even get it in Refur's review. I was going through looking for something else entirely when I thought I saw something and I still had to run it back a couple times and darken the room before I could see it. I'm gonna watch the rest of this show with the lights off if this kind of stuff keeps happening.

Makes sense. He has always had his eyes shut and maybe for more reasons than simply concentration. Also, makes sense they are black because of getting stronger through demon blood, more demon blood from Ruby who has black eyes, means blacker eyes for himself. Maybe if he was drinking YED's blood they'd be more yellow.

Although, explain to me again how drinking the blood of a dead girl with a demon possessing it is drinking demon's blood??? Its just human blood, Mr. Kripcke! Flaw in canon and all that.

I've never had a problem with the 'host-blood/demon-blood' thing, because I figure it's a mix of cloud-form demon blended with the human host's blood. So YED sent a part of his cloud-form into baby!Sam and Ruby is extruding bits of her cloud form every time Sam feeds.

I DID notice that while I was watching the episode, only because his eyes were particularly light compared the the rest of the scene.
I've been looking for this kind of thing to happen all season as well, but never actually saw it for sure... till this episode!!! OMG!

I had a thought actually. Have you done a re-take yet on Mary in Home defending her boys, given what we now know about her past and her role in things? I'd love to know what she was really defending them from and her thoughts on the matter now that we've seen more of the mytharc.
