SPN Project: The Bobbymobile.

I got a Hotwheels '69 Chevelle as a buddy for the mini-Metallicar on my shelf, and tried to paint it to look like Bobby's car (which is a '71 Chevelle).

The paint won't stand up too much handling because I couldn't figure out how to prep the surface properly without screwing up the windows and wheels, but it's just going to sit on the shelf next to Metallicar so handling shouldn't be an issue.

Here's the original (with a bit of improvised Scotch tape masking):

Here's the result:

And next to mini-Metallicar:

I think it turned out... okay I guess, for a quick and sloppy paint job. The close-ups really show all the flaws. It looks more okay from a distance. :-/

I gotta go get one of those now! I think you did a great job! What kind of paints did you use?

Wow. I think it looks great. Now if we could find teeny - tiny Winchesters and teeny - tiny Bobbys.

I am using Star Wars chess figures as my Sam, Dean, and John. They all stand around the Impala, defending it, but it's the bigger version die-cast.

OMG they're awesome! I love the license plate on the Impala!

I love it--if I could paint I would try it..lol I don't think those paint by numbers things count:P Looks great!:)

Ok that could be a bit difficult, I wonder if you could paint Warhammer figures or something? Not a clue.

Forget the Shadowrun miniatures. I think I own most of them that don't look like crap. There is no one looking even remotly like Sam, Dean or Bobby. :(

[identity profile] ciaranbochna.livejournal.com 2009-06-29 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm would be much easier if they just looked like army men or something, but that would just be odd:P

I'd say that's a pretty damn good job! I have a diecast Chevelle model in black, but I can't exactly do that to it (it was a gift from my brother), but that sure looks like a LOT of fun to do.

AWESOME. It's so cool and the IDEA of it and the rust and the primer and and. I want to say, "wow, that really looks like a piece of shit car" but I'm not talking about YOUR WORK! :D I love it.

That's fantastic! I love it. I'm jealous. I want one. :)

Looks quite good for a 'quick and sloppy' paintjob. I used to paint miniatures, I know what a pain in the ass the details are but with the right brush even the yellow door would look real. Perhaps try to apply an ink. Not sure whether this stuff is called "ink" in Canada too. I'm talking about a very watery/slurry(?) colour you apply on top to achieve a used and dirty look. I don't know which colors you've used but if they are aqua based just put a few drops of gray or dark brown in some small container and apply 1/3 water and stir it a bit.

Well, let a 3 year old play with it for about an hour and you'll get the same effect ;)

Hee!!! Cool :D
I think it looks great!
