Poem: The Season of Descent

This is an original poem about autumn that's rather depressing, even though I like autumn and don't find it depressing at all.

The Season of Descent

Each leaf falls just once.

Leaves rust and grow jaundiced.
Breezes agitate them;
rain beats down, down,
pulling on their bond
to the tree.
Their hold weakens, until
it's overcome.

They break away to fly
free
and fall.

Each leaf falls just once,
but just once,
it also flies.

Nicely angsty and possibly not really about leaves at all.

It def makes me want to sit outside and appreciate the autumn splendor. And not in a depressing way. My fav time of year! To bad it's been freaking freezing! Oooo! I hear it's going to be warmer so I think I'll force myself to walk on the rail trail near here and take it all in. Thanks inspirator!

*Dances* you did a poem! Sorry, but I think it is wonderful, and about leaves. Going to tell J--who misses the leaves in Ont. horribly.
