Random Doctor Who Thoughts

So I watched a bit of the Ninth Doctor yesterday (in the process of trying to catalog the episodes of Doctor Who I have on far too many random VHS tapes) and one little thing really leapt out at me in light of the most recent Doctor Who.

Firstly, some minor things about Jack.

-In "The Long Game" one of the background stories is about the Face of Boe being pregnant. We know who that's supposed to be, right? Wonder if that's going to come back at some point in time, possibly in Torchwood?

-In "The Doctor Dances", Jack is running a con involving selling something that subsequently gets destroyed in a known explosion. He implies he's done this sort of thing before and specifically mentions Pompeii. Would have been quite nifty to have him randomly show up in the background while the Doctor and Donna were there. (I think you might have said something about that when we saw the first part of Series 4, [livejournal.com profile] lurkingwombat.)

Now, the thing that really leapt out at me.

In "The Doctor Dances" when they're discussing how Jamie was turned into the little gas-masked roving nightmare-fodder, there is a discussion. The Doctor says: "There isn't a little boy born who wouldn't tear the world apart to save his mummy."

Now. Jumping forward to the second part of the End of Time. The woman who looks at the Doctor from behind Rassilon.

'Mummy' perhaps? Which might make implications as to exactly who did what to Gallifrey, and why?

This has probably been observed by other people. I seem to be out of brain, or I'd ponder more on it.

Also while I'm at it...

In End of Time, the cult of the Master has a ritual/recipe/formula for bringing a Time Lord back into existence with something that might be an equivalent to a Chameleon Arch fob watch and a biometric signature. Sooooo.... plot device on the wall for future usage?

Back to slogging through the VHS.

Of course there's a plot device on the wall for bringing the Master back! Isn't there always a way to bring the Master back?

Hit post too fast

I was going to add that the pesky little bugger is worse than a cockroach. (The Master I mean.)

I think I'd miss this incarnation of the Master. At least after he now reminds me so much of my husband ;D

Hmmm

1) is that a good thing or a bad thing?

2) Should we call you Lucy?

The new Master dresses a lot like him, the bleached hair with dark growing underneeth is exactly how I married him and the obsession with eating (without gaining weight - live is so unfair)... Although luckily he lacks the megalomanic and crazy parts and his eating manners are a bit more civilized - still I was laughing very hard for most parts of the first ep because I pictured my husband fighting against #10 ;D

Nah, I'm not Lucy

Ok, I'm not really a DRW-geek, but the Master's ring could be something like the watch the Doctor uses in Family of Blood.

If I am not mistaken (I haven't read the books this is in - yet) Timelords do not have normal parents. They are genetically 'woven' out of a pool of variables. I have always pictured their relationship to their relatives a bit like those of a Sibko in Batteltech: no father or mother but aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters. According to that there shoudn't be a thing like a Timelord mother.

But: In the movie with the 8th Doctor (unless you redcon that particular piece of information) the Doctor claims to be half human on his mother's side, so... *shrugs* I probably should leave those speculations to the geeks...

And adoptees or adoptive parents will confirm that it doesn't matter where your kids came from, they're still your kids.
Of course, I just didn't think Time Lords were normally that attached to one of their relatives.

Like I said I should probably leave the speculations to the real geeks who know their stuff ;D
