SPN Meta: On the Supernatural Wall

On the Supernatural Wall

"If in the first act you have hung a pistol on the wall, then in the following one it should be fired. Otherwise don't put it there."
-Anton Chekhov

Before the episode tonight (about which I know nothing! \o/) I wanted to post a list of stuff I consider to be 'on the wall' for Supernatural. I was hoping to make it a picspam, but I've run out of time, so here's a point-form version. May be edited later.

SO!

Characters/Groups/Entities on the Wall

-Trickster/Gabriel (Obviously he'll be back in some capacity. If the ep airing on April fools day doesn't in some way involve the Trickster, I'll be mildly disappointed.)

-Jesse the antichrist, currently surfing in Australia (He can make the angels go away? You don't leave a gun that big laying around. Big L has to be looking for him.)

-Chuck's Fandom. (No, really. Distributed network of people all over the US and world? Could be very handy if they're trying to find someone or something.)

-CHUCK!!! (Seriously. Where the hell is Chuck? He gets visions of the future and no one's heard anything from him since 'Real Ghostbusters'? He's either up to something publishing-wise, or Zachariah's sitting on him.)

-The FBI/Police (Yes the Winchesters were declared dead in Jus in Bello. Yes Dean was actually dead for months. But they've been up and about since then, and someone's bound to notice. There's also the matter of Detective Ballard (Usual Suspects) and Officer Hudak (Benders) who know about the Winchesters.)

-Tamara ('The Magnificent Seven'? The hunter whose husband was killed? If she's still hunting, and I would be surprised if she isn't, where is she and whose side is she on. I doubt it's the Winchesters' side. Which leads to...)

-The 'Hunt Sam' club. (Between Dean calling hunters after coming back from the dead, Lucifer running loose, and hunters noticing signs of the End Times everywhere, I'm really surprised that the 'Friends of Steve Wandell' and guys like the ones in 'Free to Be You and Me' who were trying to force a demon blood cocktail into Sam haven't shown up again yet. Especially since the boys are so closely tied to Bobby, and anyone that's in the hunter community and knows that could just camp out somewhere along the road to Bobby's to find them. I suspect if Tamara is still hunting, she'd be with this group.)

-The Film Company from "Hollywood Babylon" (...just add Chuck's novels and fanbase and stir...)

-The dreamwalker guy from 'Dream a Little Dream' (Yes, he's dead. But he died in a dream. What if he's out haunting dreams?)

-Ghostfacers (They're quiet... too quiet....)

-Zombies. (It's been 5 years of a horror show and we've had, what? One zombie and a handful of extras from Thriller for Sam Hane's Evol Guyz Kegger? We're overdue for more zombie action.)

-Vampires. (What's her name and her cow-suckers are out there somewhere still. Sam and Dean need allies, and Sam could use a 12-step program for fighting blood addiction, so they'd be handy to recur. Also, what happened to Luther's mate from 'Dead Man's Blood'? She's still out there with her new daughter, seething about Winchesters for the last 4 years. Unless Gordon got her, which is possible.)

-ETA: Meant to add, but missed, Crowley. He'll definitely be back, maybe even courtesy of a desperation play at a Crossroads (because Crossroads deals are still out there on the 'possible methods of sacrificing oneself for the good of the party'), but possibly running and whining about the Winchsters not killing Lucifer with the Colt. Unless he knew the Colt wouldn't work and it was all a ploy in which case he'll show up, make a show of whining or gloating and stab someone in the back. But he will return.

-ETA from [livejournal.com profile] blackcat333_99: Raphael, Chuck's archangel. Who I totally forgot about, oops. Bound to be annoyed about the 'getting left in a circle of Holy Oil' thing in 'Free to Be'. Has expressed exhaustion, defeat, sadness and wanting it to all be over, plus a lack of fairh that God's still around, which meshes with Trickster/Gabriel's expressed opinions. (Also, he killed one of Dean's friends (temporarily) and is still alive, which I believe is rather rare.)

Things/Objects on the Wall

-War's ring, possibly Famine's ring (Especially given the effect on Jimmy, which is in the next section, and given that so far they've implied that a Horseman's influence over people is strongly tied to their ring, these things should go off sometime before the end of the season)

-Wish coin (Sam melted it down. Off camera. Suuuure. Fourth season Sam, who'd been drinking blood for a while and was all lethal and pragmatic? I really think he still has that coin in case of emergencies. Or he gave it to Ruby or she stole it. There was just something weird about that 'okay, coin's melted' bit.)

-Dreamroot (Just add Chuck.)

-Tulpa Symbol (Just add Chuck's fanbase, and a faked-up prophecy/novella wherein everything turns out okay, distributed online by Becky....)

-Pendant (Castiel's got it, what's he doing with it? More importantly, where did it really come from? Sam said Bobby gave it to him to give to John, but Bobby didn't know what Castiel was talking about when he asked about the pendant. More than likely Bobby simply didn't know about the whole 'God EMF' factor, but I think there's a real chance that no matter what Wee!Sam thought, Bobby wasn't the one who gave him the pendant...)

-Reaper binding ritual book (Remember 'Faith', waaay back in first season? There was a little book with a spell that could bind a Reaper with assorted nastiness. Where did that go, and wouldn't it be a hoot if they tried using it to bind Death?)

-Colt (Not the 'kills everything except Lucifer and four other things (maybe Horsemen, deities, earworms and anything that would inconvenience the plot)' factor, but the key to a gate to Hell factor. No one's trying to steal it and go call up reinforcements?)

-Curse boxes and storage locker (John's storage locker was a little ransacked-looking in 'Lucifer Rising' What are the chances that some of the curse boxes have gotten out in the open, or into Lucifer or Zachariah's hands?)

Procedures/Spells/Abilities/Creatures on the Wall

-Angel-abilities (All from 5.14: Angels can sense souls. Angels, even ones not in the loop, can read lower angel's minds. A vessel can override angel's will when under the influence of a Horseman. All of that has many potential future uses, and I'd be surprised if it didn't get used again as the season thunders down towards the Finale. And for pete's sake, can Castiel scan Dean's soul and find out what's missing??)

-Sam can resist Horseman's power. (Arguably, so can Dean (being 'dead inside' has its advantages). This is not a general vessel thing, since Jimmy was affected as hell. Neither Winchester was affected by the Croatoan virus when it was beta-tested, and that's more than likely a Horseman (Pestilence) thing too. This is bound to come up again.)

Other stuff lurking around that I think will pop up again in some way:

-Cherubim and matchmaking. (A choice was made and an action was taken to promote that choice to higher probability. That's not fate, that's strategy. But whose?)

-Croatoan virus (Of course that's coming back, hopefully whenever Pestilence crawls out from under the rock he/she's under and says howdy.)

-"You can see demons because you're nearly hell's bitch" (End of season 3. The description and reactions to that little undocumented feature of having Hellhounds after you got a bit much explanation to be only used once)

-Alastair borrowed Death's sickle, long before Death got summoned. And used it to kill Reapers, Death's underlings. There has got to be repercussions from that. No pun intended there.

-Grace. Unless they've decided to sweep the concept of Angelic Grace being removable, exchangeable, usable in causing spontaneous life, wearable at raves, etc under a rug, something has to happen to someone's Grace. I have wild speculations but I've mentioned them before.

-Sam detox throes. He never really got over them last time. Not without buying off the disadvantage a possibly literal Deus Ex Machina. He was flying around the room last time; how far will they go?

-Dean is 'Dead inside'. See above re: angel soul cat-scans. Heh, or Cas-scans. Anyway, if whatever's missing is what's making him invulnerable to Horsemen, maybe it's not something that should be immediately fixed from a tactical viewpoint. Of course 'OMG fix Dean now!!' but they need any advantage they can get now.

-Bodyswapping. Likelihood of Sam or Dean trying it for some reason, not very. Though Sam might. Likelihood of someone else being duped into trying it on Sam now that some demons think it'll make it easier for Big L to move in, whether it actually will or not... possible?

-ETA: Almost forgot a huge one. In "Song Remains the Same" when Sam did an Angel-Banishing Sigil, his blood literally on the wall glowed, with a fiery red burning glow and everything. There's more to that too, I think.

Anyway, that's all from a quick rundown, and I've likely missed loads.

This is so awesomely awesome that I want to nick your idea and do a HIMYM wall. Would you be okay with that?

[identity profile] irismay42.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You know I was just thinking about Tamara the other day, possibly because I was ruminating on there never being any British good guys in US shows and how we had to put up with Bela for a whole season!

I'd love to see Jesse again. That kid was a fabulous little actor! Next to Colin Ford, probably one of the best child actors they've had on the show.

Oh Lenore! Yes she should definitely make another appearance!

[identity profile] ravenrants.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Cas still has the angel-killing sword he took from Uriel and threatened Anna with, right?

[identity profile] blacklid.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd go with Michael blipping everything being back in its place in the interest of cosmic continuity. That tiny detail, of course, just screams that he's tried to change the most important thing there is: someone's mind.

[identity profile] vikki.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Gotta finish reading the post, but on the note of Zombies ... do you not include Croatoan? Because I was pretty sure that was supposed to be the Zombie Apocalypse in 5.04 (and we had it introduced in season 2 as a type of localized Zombie Apocalypse ...)

[identity profile] eilonwy.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam Hane's Evol Guyz Kegger?
Bwah!

I like the way you think. I was considering this from the opposite angle-- what are the questions still on the wall? Your way is more thought provoking, though.

I particularly like your point about the colt as key-- I do hope that comes back up at some point.

[identity profile] ficwriter1966.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Let me start by saying I know absolutely NOTHING about the season finale (or 5.21). Given that...

I'm thinking they've got to put Jesse in there somewhere. And the whole collection of angels. Lucifer, of course. And Crowley. Chuck's a maybe. I'd put him in 5.21. As for objects, I'd put good odds on the Colt and Dean's amulet.

The rest of the stuff you brought up? I think that's varying degrees of long, long odds.

Also, ideas! *grabby hands*

What do you want for your birthday?

Did you see the ep yet? *bounces*

Also, interestingly enough, I have a pretty bad headache, too.

Since I can't help with that, though, any drabbles you want?

[identity profile] ciaranbochna.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, all of this and more, who knows what is in the melting pot;) I definitely vote more Amber Benson though:)

[identity profile] weesta.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Some of these I'd be just as happy if they dropped (Jesse I'm looking at you), but others I'm totally on board, if not adament that they be addressed. For me Dean's amulet is at the top of the list, along with Croatoan virus, Grace and upper echelon angels (Michael and Gabriel I'm looking at you.)

[identity profile] weesta.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
You got zombies! I was thinking of you and your list when the show started. *g*

[identity profile] babelmira.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
What kind of zombie do you want to see? I'd love to see a traditional voodoo zombie, but I've only seen them done twice anywhere. (I Walked With a Zombie and the second Anita Blake book)

[identity profile] jennk528.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Love your list! Too many things floating about...We need many more eps to cram them in this season! But I'm hoping for the amulet. And Chuck, dammit - why aren't they on the phone with him daily?!

Hey, the Tim Powers book is "On Stranger Tides." Haven't read it in about a zillion years, but awesome. :)

[identity profile] blackcat333-99.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Can I add two:

Raphael. Somehow. Any way I can get it, really. There was a power and such a mix of exhaustion, arrogance, and sadness in this character. Plus... he was left in a burning ring of fire. Surely he's gonna want to say a few final words about that to Castiel and/or Dean.

CROWLEY. The smoking gun who handed over the smoking gun. He may be a demon who wants Lucifer D.E.A.D. but what about when he learns that the Colt didn't work on Lucifer?

[identity profile] blackcat333-99.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
*gentle hugs& Sorry about the migraine - that's a bummer. Especially with a new eppy tonight that I'm guessing might have to be shelved until you feel better. Hopefully soon.

*dashes away without peeking at the Flist - gotta get my ep review out first, which ain't happening right this sec*

[identity profile] kreespa.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
OMG.... Gabriel had BETTER BE IN NEXT WEEK'S EPISODE! That's just too perfect to let go.

[identity profile] khakigrrl.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, I *have* to respond to this, 'cause you're hitting on some theories I've long held...

-ETA: Meant to add, but missed, Crowley. [...] Unless he knew the Colt wouldn't work and it was all a ploy in which case he'll show up, make a show of whining or gloating and stab someone in the back. But he will return.

I put a fic prompt out about this 'cause there are two components that make the Colt special: the gun itself and its bullets. Yes, the boys would likely check the gun physically 'cause they've tried the ol' switch-the-gun trick, but the bullets are just as special. In seasons 1&2, they got down to one bullet, after which the gun would be "useless". But in the ep, the bullets were tossed to them by Crowley as an afterthought. Maybe the Colt with the "real" bullets could have killed Lucifer.

-War's ring, possibly Famine's ring (Especially given the effect on Jimmy, which is in the next section, and given that so far they've implied that a Horseman's influence over people is strongly tied to their ring, these things should go off sometime before the end of the season)

Hee! Now I have this weird mental image of Dean, after the apocalypse is over and all is well, making all four rings into some twisted charm bracelet for himself. ;-)

-Sam can resist Horseman's power. (Arguably, so can Dean (being 'dead inside' has its advantages). This is not a general vessel thing, since Jimmy was affected as hell.

I dunno about this. It could be argued that Sam craved something more than demons' blood at that moment. He was, after all, standing in the same room as his brother, who was being threatened by a horseman. I can see Sam wanting to save Dean as a stronger desire than the blood in that moment.

Neither Winchester was affected by the Croatoan virus when it was beta-tested, and that's more than likely a Horseman (Pestilence) thing too. This is bound to come up again.)

This is so true. Rewatch 5x04. In the beginning of Dean's trip to the future, he is cut by an infected little girl by a piece of glass she is grasping and bleeding on. Yet, he experiences no symptoms. Is this because he's post-hell!Dean or something to do with the Winchester blood line? I dunno.

Also, Dean has been seen twice cutting vamp's heads off (in seasons 2 and 5) where the blood spattered all over his face. It couldn't have completely avoided his eyes/nose/mouth. In the season 3 eps BDABR and the one with Gordon vamping out, it's specifically stated that if you get a vamp's blood into your body (through a cut or your mouth), you become a vamp. Yet, Dean's never been infected.

-Sam detox throes. He never really got over them last time. Not without buying off the disadvantage a possibly literal Deus Ex Machina. He was flying around the room last time; how far will they go?

So wish they'd shown this. After all, Sam was in a panic room set up with all kinds of sigils and devil's traps that we've specifically been told at the end of season 1 take away a demon's powers once they're trapped. Yet Sam's powers are unaffected. Makes me wonder why they put him in there again after 5x14. It's not like it's stopping any of his powers, and it's probably the place he could most be hurt, flinging himself around at metal walls and pointy angles. If I were Sam, I'd prefer a nice little closet full of pillows.

-ETA: Almost forgot a huge one. In "Song Remains the Same" when Sam did an Angel-Banishing Sigil, his blood literally on the wall glowed, with a fiery red burning glow and everything. There's more to that too, I think.

Oooh, I didn't notice that it had been different from Dean's and Cas's use of the sigils. That's interesting!

[identity profile] blacklid.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
ANYTHING can come back in SupernaturalZombieLand!

This is a great list. If anything, it's a little TOO complete, meaning you have most of it in here, it's just buried.

Rock on!

P.S. Dean sez you're missing the 99 bottles of beer. LOL

[identity profile] brianshanelvr.livejournal.com 2010-03-26 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
This hunting Sam club... favorite thing ever! =D And Deans necklace not being returned... annoys me to hell. I mean, where does Castiel even keep it? Oh but yes, loved you pointing so many undeniable unexplainables... I'll need to rec this to my friends. ;)

[identity profile] brianshanelvr.livejournal.com 2010-03-30 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
They better follow thRough, and have a whole load of em' for Dean to torture to death! WE NEED MORE BIG MOMMA BEAR DEAN!

[identity profile] julorean.livejournal.com 2010-03-27 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ha. I'm cynical but I doubt even a third will be mentioned again. Jesse seems the most likely, but given how Kripke is, I doubtful of even that.

Great point about the tulpa. That woul solve everything! And thus why it won't be used.
