Sherlock recs

GEN FIC

Holiday Cheer by [livejournal.com profile] saathi1013
Summary: Sherlock loves Christmas.
(Giggleworthy and true to character.)

Mycroft's Minions by [livejournal.com profile] erisinia
Summary: Several ficlets from the POV of Mycroft's employees.
(Mycroft's got minions! Have his minions got opinions? Yes they do!)

Cataloging Humanity by [livejournal.com profile] ciaranbochna
Reccer's Summary: Sherlock is puzzled by John and wants more data.
(A cute little story about Sherlock and John's friendship.)

Distraction by [livejournal.com profile] sandrinnad
Summary: Sherlock Holmes is bored.
(Warning: Mentions of drug use. A fascinatingly skittery internal perspective of Sherlock during boredom.)

I Am Become Death by [livejournal.com profile] entangled_now
Summary: In which Sherlock does something very bad.
(Author's warning: Zombie. Reccer's warning: graphic corpse description and creep-factor nine billion. O.o)

'SQUINT' FIC*

Holmes for the Holidays by [livejournal.com profile] i_sing_anyway
Summary: It's Christmastime in London, and sharing a flat with a Grinch like Sherlock Holmes can make it difficult to get into the Christmas spirit, as Dr. John Watson discovers.
(Sherlock is Sherlock, John is John, nothing goes right, but it goes right anyway. Squint is a bit overt near the end, but can be Gen-blended as drink and holiday schmoop for the Gen-folk.)

Maybe Then I Could Sleep at Night by [livejournal.com profile] i_sing_anyway
Summary: John’s having trouble sleeping; his past and present start to collide when he finds himself sharing a bed with Sherlock.
(Contains nightmare-related ongoing no-hanky-panky bed-sharing and improvised talk therapy.)

*Squint = If you look at it one way, it's plain Gen, if you squint, you might see slash or pre-slash.

PRE-SLASH FIC

The Greatest Thing You'll Ever Learn by [livejournal.com profile] flawedamythyst
Summary: Sherlock and John watch Moulin Rouge.
(Asexual!Sherlock/John PG-rated ponderings on kissing and romance and magic.)

The Aim of Waking by [livejournal.com profile] foxtoast
Prompt Summary: Sherlock starts having nightmares. John recognizes what's happening and tries to help Sherlock in subtle ~nightmare buddies i feel your pain~ ways.
(PG - First time kissing. There's a lovely subtle early-morning not-awake-yet feeling threading through this fic that's quite appropriate to the subject.)

SLASH FIC

In Dulci Jubilo by [livejournal.com profile] kate_lear
Reccers' Summary: Sherlock, John and a street musician.
(PG - Men kissing, established relationship Sherlock/John. This story has that sad yet uplifting wistfulness that the great seasonal stories do.)

The Captive Mind by [livejournal.com profile] the_thinktank
Summary: Wisdom comes with age and experience and the passage of time will force you to face the inescapable facts of life: family, memory, loss and love.
Reccer's Warning: Alzheimer's
(PG - Established relationship Sherlock/John. Heartbreaking and harrowing and visceral story about the Holmes' brothers different ways of coping and not coping with their mother's worsening illness. Rich in detail and very real-feeling.)

ART

Comic Time by [livejournal.com profile] angrybeige
(Gen. Sherlock has an unusual acquaintance, and [livejournal.com profile] angrybeige is made of awesome and crack.)

Christmas Eve at 221b by [livejournal.com profile] dauntdraws
(Gen. A peaceful Christmas at home for the Baker Street boys.)

Hello -- I just wanted to thank you for these rec posts that you do, it's really a goldmine for someone like me who is just getting into the fandom and is looking for good gen stuff. I really appreciate your putting in the effort to find and share these gems, and for so thoughtfully organizing them so it's easy for people to find whatever they prefer to read. Thanks so much!
