Sherlock recs

GEN FIC

The Past is Prologue by [livejournal.com profile] rachelindeed
Summary: Sherlock and John were introduced in 2010. But they'd spent an hour together before that, here and there.
(Interesting concept, sort of toying with destiny. The little vignettes of the shared lost moments seem very in character.)

'SQUINT' FIC*

Seven Days and All the Time Beside by [livejournal.com profile] wouldbeashame
Summary: Sherlock and John have a falling out, and separate for a while to sort themselves.
(Very very mild squint. May cause pernicious earworms. Or not.)

*Squint = If you look at it one way, it's plain Gen, if you squint, you might see slash or pre-slash.

SLASH

What Lies Beyond by [livejournal.com profile] nickelsandcoats
Summary: A series of 6 vignettes in which Sherlock and John wonder what happens next.
Warnings: angst, character death
(PG-13 - Sherlock/John. Contemplations of a Heaven/Hell style afterlife over many time periods. This fic will make you cry. Beware the warning.)

VID

Sherlock: The Musical by [livejournal.com profile] lotrfan2888
(Many many snicker-worthy moments in this vid that spans the entirety of Series One.)

ICONS

Sherlock 20 in 20 by [livejournal.com profile] hovercarracer
(Eye-catching style and a sense of drama to these icons. Also, the iconner has a 'Buy-It-Now' style auction offer up at [livejournal.com profile] help_japan, linked at the icon page above.)

...And now, because rotten RL has kept me from doing much reading/watching of fannish things this past week, here's something completely different.

WRITING/RESEARCH RESOURCES

Metropolitan Police Service - Crime Mapping
Straight from the real world Metropolitan Police (AKA Scotland Yard) it's a detailed navigable map of crime rates in London, both general and by specific type of crime. Also can be set to indicate where the police stations are, (a feature Doctor Who fans will giggle over, since guess what the icon for Police Station is?) Good for researching areas to set stories where a specific type of crime would be common/notably uncommon, etc.

London Crime Statistics and Policing
Similar to the crime map, but this site gives percentages and comparisons to national averages, which is handy if a character has a need to spout statistics. Also handy for those in and around London thinking of moving. :-)

Random Name Generator
Random First and middle names which can be specified by nationality, origin, and a few silly subgroups for spice.

UK Police Special Operations
The names of the assorted special branches of the UK Police service, what their general areas of responsibility are and so forth. Need to know who gets called in on specific situations that might come up in fic, this is a decent place to start from. For instance, here's Scotland Yard's specialist firearms unit.

If you've seen something amazing that you think more people in the Sherlock fandom should have the chance to enjoy, please rec it at the main Sunday Recday post at [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc.

Thanks for the shout-out! Also, loved all the fic recs - and the fanvid was gold :)

Oh, that's a bit naughty of the Met! The Police Box is copyrighted to the BBC, not them.

Thanks for the recs! I've been falling behind lately so a good list is appreciated... also, IDK how I missed that vid, but it was sheer brilliance :D

Thanks so much for your rec-list, it's very fun, I especially enjoyed the vid! And thanks again for including my story this week, it's an honor :) Just a quick mention, though, the story title for mine is "The past is prologue," I think "Three Mornings" belongs to someone else :)
