Sherlock recs

This was compiled far too haphazardly, so if there are any errors or miscategorizations, please let me know.

GEN

Reciprocity by [livejournal.com profile] ariadnes_string
Summary: Lestrade is ill. John is bossy. And Sherlock is not quite as heartless as he means to be.
(Quite adorable and in character.)

Decisions & Revisions by [livejournal.com profile] tocourtdisaster
Summary: There is a minute of silence, of inaction. The possibilities are endless.
(Remember decision trees? Or flowcharts? Read this, then bookmark it to read again juuuuust before 2.01 starts.)

Webs and Glass by [livejournal.com profile] ciaranbochna
Summary: John uses his gift for family or close friends.
(A wonderfully poetic AU/magic reality/extended metaphor for John's need to protect those he cares about regardless of what it costs him.)

The Case of the Strungleeng Speghettee by [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper

Summary:
Sherlock is thrilled with how unusual tonight's case is.
(Crack. Dear god, the crack.)

Through the Checkout Five Times by [livejournal.com profile] gayalondiel
Summary: Seasonal flu claims John, leaving Sherlock to look after him
(Sherlock being a caretaker for a very ill John. Strikes a fine balance between adorable and funny as hell.)

Two stories (which can be read individually or as a series) by Tepid Sponge Bath on FF.Net:
The Effects of Excessive Pressure on Molly Hooper, 31, Single, Lab Rat
Summary: There is such a thing as too much pressure. And when Molly Hooper finally snaps, well, she has dead bodies to work with in the morgue, doesn't she?
Warning: Pet death
(Molly snaps and starts the zombie apocalypse. It's quite grim and horrific but with a note of very dark humour here and there.)
Molly Bloody Hooper
Summary: A zombie apocalypse in the Sherlock universe. Caused accidentally on purpose by one Molly Hooper. She's trying to make up for it.
(Everyone's trying to out tough-guy each other, and Molly's kicking ass apologetically and it's hilarious and snarky.)

SQUINT*

Left Shoe for Luck by [livejournal.com profile] gayalondiel
Summary: Mycroft insists that Sherlock and John observe superstitions on their special day.
(Adorable 'could be S/J, could be Gen' Sherlock and John get married fic, with Mycroft and superstitions in the bargain.)

Mycroft and the Dementors by [livejournal.com profile] supermusicmad
Original Prompt: Sherlock and Mycroft encounter Dementors – what do they see?
Warnings: Mentions of violence towards children, and drug abuse. Swearing.
Crossover/blend: Harry Potterverse.
(John vs dementors; just when you thought John couldn't be more badass, he gets out a wand.)

Comfortable by [livejournal.com profile] supermusicmad
Summary: An experiment leaves Sherlock temporarily blind and deaf and locked in memories of an incident in his past. (Full Original Prompt at the fic.)
Warnings: Mentions of past non-con and torture, sensory deprivation.
(Practically claustrophobic in spots, brilliant H/C.)

*Squint = Could be read as Slash or Gen.

PRE-SLASH

As The Days Keep Turning Into Night by [livejournal.com profile] yourebrilliant
Summary: post Reichenbach fic from John's POV. Inspired by the song All My Days by Alexi Murdoch
(PG, Reichenbaching the Great Game, very thorough depiction of grief. The character emotions in this feel quite genuine.)

Memento Mori by [livejournal.com profile] eternuscreek
Description: Based off the short story Memento Mori by Jonathan Nolan, off which the film Memento is based. There is a section taken straight from that story. If you haven't read it check it out, it's heartbreaking.
(PG, dark themes, self-harm. If you are familiar with the film Memento, this will kill you. If you are not familiar with the film Memento, this will confuse the crap out of you for a bit, but then kill you anyway.)

Shooter by [livejournal.com profile] marita_c
Summary: Sherlock is held at knifepoint. John can’t get a clear shot.
(PG-13, Bamf!John and imperiled!Sherlock. Lovely.)

Walk On by [livejournal.com profile] sc010f
Summary: John is recalled to Afghanistan, Sherlock reacts.
(Rated M. Ow. If you have loved ones serving in the military, this might be a hard read.)

SLASH

L'appel du vide by Moranion on FF.net
Summary: Sherlock's fear and lust for the void.
(Slash, T, Past assorted sexual activity, current pre-slash. A look at Sherlock over the years, falling.)

Falling into Place by [livejournal.com profile] hoc_voluerunt
Summary: Set after A Study in Pink. It's almost as if they've done this all before.
(Slash, PG, kissing. Understated and comfortable, and the reincarnation/fate angle makes me smile.)

Sherlock drabble by [livejournal.com profile] daisychains123
Reccer's Summary: A very memorable dinner.
(Slash, PG, romantic schmoop. This oversized drabble is too adorable for words, really.)

Whole and Unbroken by [livejournal.com profile] lotherington
Summary: Something dictates that John and Sherlock can only exist together every leap day, but the connection their hearts have wants otherwise. Magical realism.
(Slash, PG-13, kissing, implied sexual situations. A fascinating sci-fi/magic realism AU that might blow your mind.)

ART-FIC

One Thousand Apologies by [livejournal.com profile] colebaltblue
Summary: an epistolary tale set during the hiatus, i.e. a story told in images.
(Whenever the series gets around to adapting Reichenbach and Empty House (no spoilers) the online content is probably going to look something like parts of this.)

ART

Prompt Fill #1 and Sidekick by Lyd-T on DA
(Whumped!John and Bamf!John. It's like a set of Greek theatre masks, really.)

Constantly by [livejournal.com profile] mariemjs
(An evocative and gorgeous image of Sherlock's watchmen.)

Noisy by Daretobeboring on DA
(A visual representation of what it might be like to be Sherlock. No matter how many times I look at this, I see another detail I hadn't seen before.)

FANMIX-FIC

Like a Mountain Part One, Part Two and Part Three by [livejournal.com profile] ciaranbochna
(A very thorough look inside Sherlock's head, combined with an epic-length fanmix.)

If you've seen something amazing that you think more people in the Sherlock fandom should have the chance to enjoy, please rec it at the Sunday Recdaypost at[livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc, because it'll get seen by way more people there!

Hello. Thanks so much for the rec! :) (I wanted to say thank you less creepily via fanfiction.net but I haven't been able to log in, amf.)

Oh dear! You didn't need to do that! I meant that as sort of a lightbulb-going-ting! moment. I'm actually quite pleased to learn that those stories can be a series sort of thing, so thanks, actually, for pointing that out! *flails apologetically*

Thank you again for the rec! Now I know how I'm spending my Sunday evening. :)
