Supernatural Speculation Post 7.09

I'm thinking.... well, it's a hunch, but I'm thinking the Leviathans aren't just going to settle for chowing down on pacified humans or simply rampaging over Earth. I'm getting a 'staging ground' feeling from all this.

Really, they've pretty much got Earth right now if they keep on they way they have, taking over strategic humans and pacifying (and at the sae time arming, which is weird) the rest, almost entirely unopposed. If they haven't infiltrated other continents political systems and social power structures by now, they're fools. In this week's episode they made a point of including someone asking Dick if he was running for office. He doesn't need to. He just needs to get close enough to whoever does win to snag some loose hair and he can set up one of the Leviathan-flunkies as a figurehead and be puppet-master. Same goes for everyone he's already met. That photo montage of notable Photoshopping? Any one of those people could now be taken over by a Leviathan.

What occurs to me is the Leviathans got a lot of info on the Winchesters from being in Castiel... what other info did they get from him on other topics? (Maybe they've still got him alive and are getting every shred of information out of him they can. Maybe they're keeping him alive to use as a Trojan Horse.)

I think it was mentioned earlier that Purgatory was started up to lock the Leviathans away. They've got to have a pretty big grudge against Heaven for that. [livejournal.com profile] sssshup gave a run-down of the contents of the maps and diagrams Bobby was looking at in a comment on the reaction post. The maps showing a lot of major energy centers, oil, gas, nuclear, etc. What I'm thinking is maybe they're getting control of the sources of energy to open a big gate into Heaven to take it over or ravage it while it's politically destabilised. Maybe Bobby looked shocked because he recognised a pattern in the maps amounting to a continent-wide sigil of some kind. Maybe a gate that would rip open the planet. (Or not, I doubt planet-cracking is in the show's budget and this isn't Doctor Who.)

Still, if Earth is the Leviathans' only goal here, they've pretty much got it right now, which is why I'm thinking there's a larger goal of some kind.

Anyway, a few random thoughts, likely wrong. Posted for later pointing and laughing purposes.

NO SPOILERS IN COMMENTS PLEASE. See sidebar. *points right*

Scarily plausible, and given your track record of catching things at the beginning of episodes and correctly predicting what's going to happen (Bobby's hat!) I am now officially nervous.

Thanks a lot.

I concur with something grand in the works. They already have strings connecting everything at this point, so what else could they imagine?

Exactly! Their playbook is so ancient it is written in a language no one has ever seen or heard, which makes it that much easier to snow the rest of us;)

Wow, I am rambling and should go to sleep or something..lol

True, I suspect this is why I get the strange looks sometimes:P I am glad that you are so forgiving then;)

See, now I am doing that thing with the red face...lol Back at you:)

I think they've got the US. Earth will be a bit trickier.

I'm still perplexed about the whole thing. If you want to give them *human* qualities - I'd agree that they'd want to get even with the one(s) who locked 'em up. Then, a nice comfy setup, including lots of tasty food, which would argue against destroying the planet. I always figure a Big Bad enjoys a worthy adversary - otherwise, life gets *really* boring - but the writers have set this situation up as being really unbalanced, with humans having no chance to beat them, so it feels to me like the boys are going to have to find some big guns to help them out, towards the end of the season. So...angels? Ancient gods?

Show does amuse me with its Leviathans = Republicans parallels.

Oooh like both the idea of them keeping Castiel alive (Please? *bats eyelashes at Sera Gamble*) and them making some kind of play for Heaven... That would be...expensive, budget-wise!

Isn't their real enemy God, not the angels and God's not in Heaven anymore. Do you think they're trying to hunt him down, or maybe draw him out by attacking Heaven? Also what exactly do you think our relationshp is to them?-- other than food. Do you think they just consume our bodies, or do they consume or somehow acquire our souls as well? Since apparently souls are individual little "nuclear reactors" do you think they might be able to tap into that power too?

Also the file with the documents were in was titled THE BOX VERSION 1.0--mean anything to you? Wonder how Bobby figured the plan out? He does say "Now I know what you're up to". Hope he's able to communicate it to the boys, got to come outta that coma--he deserves that happy ending with Sheriff Jodie.
