Fandom encounter in real life

Sharing this because I desperately need to make myself (and a few other people maybe?) giggle.

So I went to a Chinese restaurant to pick up a little takeout the other day, year of the Dragon and all, and since that was the first time I'd been to an actual Chinese restaurant since I started watching Sherlock, I was thinking as I approached the place, "Oh I'll have to make sure to look at the bottom third of the door handle to see if it's a good restaurant, just like Sherlock does, har har har."

So I get to the front door.

There is a rubber band wrapped around the bottom third of the door handle.

Not serving any purpose, just hanging out on the door handle in the bottom thirdish region.

Me: *stops dead, blinks* "...but, but, what does that mean?!??" O.o

Other customers: *edging away*

(In retrospect, I think it was probably a commentary on the state of the chow mein. XD)

Dude... I've found a "Moriarty was real" flier on the street and I'VE BEEN WAITING TO SQUEE ABOUT IT ever since! It had little "I believe" tags... Obviously I took one ;-DDD

Oh Gawd, this makes me smile. :D

The other day my friend said something about Mercuary, and how it can kill you if there's huge amounts, and I grinned and went 'Neat'.

Everyone just stared at me. :/ I felt alone in my fan-ness.

omyg!!!

This is like a Sherlockian puzzle come to life!

Do you think a sekrit fellow fangirl put the rubberband there? (You know, I thought of this stupid doorhandle thing several times over the past few days? Perhaps because it's Chinese New Year and there are banners everywhere.)

I'm planning a visit to Speedy's and can't help thinking that I might run into hordes of furtive doorhandle checkers there, hahahahha.

o god what has become of us

This reminds me of being in college and writing Bad Wolf on random walls.

A shocking number of restaurants in the town where I went to college had a "right on our walls please!" policy. I can think 4 off the top of my head, and I'm sure there there were more. It was sort of a weird liberal hippy kinda place in retrospect. The rest of the time it was chalk, I promise (one of the up sides of being an art student for two years, you always have chalk or charcoal on you somewhere)
