Something I noticed in 3.12

*grin* SAM'S TATTOO IS SHOWING!! :-D A full, what, five or ten minutes before the tattoos are actually revealed?

I mean it's not that huge of a deal, since the reveal of them is in this episode and Jensen and Jared probably got temp tattoos that would last for the week of shooting or whatever, but still I say a massive "YAY!!!" for costume/make-up continuity!! \o/

I'm in a state of much-needed glee now, and a bit surprised because I don't usually spend this much time staring at Sam's chest.

Thanks! I have no idea why I was looking at Sam's chest at that particular moment, but detail continuity is one of my not-so-secret joys. One of the many reasons I started watching the show was the costume continuity, because it added to the realism of Sam and Dean being two guys on the road to have the same (occasionally thrift-store looking) clothes re-appear in different episodes

Costume, prop and stage dressing departments on this show are amazing.

And it seems that they do quite a bit of research, at least according to a well-informed fan who's pointed out some pretty cool meta for symbols and various stuff that shows up

They do seem to have an active research department. Jensen said good things about them in an interview somewhere recently. Probably one of the Australia ones.

For some reason I never notice the difference between Dean's two pairs of jeans. I'll watch closer on the next go through.

I also noticed something else, but it's trying to turn into a plot-bunny, so I'm gonna let it sit and grow for a while.

I just love that the neckline on that shirt is low enough that we can see it; I don't expect it to happen in future episodes, but yumm!

Well, see, I already have a retcon for if they slip at some point in the future and have that area of chest show without a tattoo. The tattoos are made of a special 'demon-sensitive' ink, where they only show up if there's a demon within a hundred yards and otherwise are invisible. Kind of like the Harry Potter 'Dark Mark' in reverse, a bit? Of course this also gives them an easy 'demon-detecting' bonus, they can look down their shirts. *nods sagely*

But yeah, the costume department's going to have to be more concious of necklines and how much of what skin is showing where from now on.

Hopefully the make-up/costume department will be careful and it won't need to be brought out. But just in case, now you know.

(Although the image of Dean and Sam looking intensely at someone they think might be possessed and then looking down the front of their shirts is going to be a hard one to evade ;-D)

I know! It the causal stuff where it's not a deliberate shot, it's just a random accidental glimpse that adds that extra layer of realism. It's so damned awesome!

It's too bad frequently repeated temp tatts would probably be horrible for their skin, or I'd vote for keeping the tattoos on at all times during shooting, specifically for little accidental glimpses like this.

Well, I did hear somewhere that Jensen has it written in his contract that he gets the Impala after the show ends, the really good one with the huge engine. No idea how true that is, but I really hope it's true :-D

No idea what the equivalent would be for Jared. Though from what I've heard of Jared being goofy, maybe a clause that says he gets to keep the psychic powers wouldn't be too far off the map for him. ;-)

What I really, truly hope is that they stay good friends after the end of the show. And maybe work on another project together once in a while. :-)
