Poll: My Bloody Valentine 3D
I was unexpectedly overtaken by a bout of glee over "My Bloody Valentine 3D" at work today. It was very unexpected since I'm not into slasher films and had been kind of neutral except for the "Oh cool, Jensen's in a movie that might actually make it to my hometown theatre and video store" factor. However, today I am suffused with glee so here, have a (longish) poll.
No spoilers please! Guessing and hoping only! :-D
[Poll #1328414]
ETA: Gah. Please pardon the assorted spelling errors in the poll. *facepalm*

The theaters in my area (there's 4 of them) are having both a 10pm and a 12:15am showing, but I'm a lightweight so I'm going to the 10pm show. And yeah, I will be missing the end of the new ep, but since I TiVo, I generally don't watch the eps at airing anyway.
This is going to be so cool!!! :-D

Oh, awesome! There seems to be a lot of buzz about it, hunh? :-D

Well there you are then, you're totally set. :-)

It's astounding the things being a fan of something/someone makes us do, eh? :-D
Happy to see I'm not the only one hoping for naked :) I think there'd be so much potential for that in 3D.
*boggles* HAHAHAHAHA! Oh lordy! I didn't even think of the 3D! Hee! *facepalm*

Obviously, my mind lives in the gutter, cause that was my first thought on hearing he was making a 3D movie ;) My best friend was horrified ;)

3-D
(Anonymous) 2009-01-10 05:40 am (UTC)(link)Lurking Wombat here to tell you that the new system of 3-D totally rocks!!!
Journey to the Center of the Earth was in 3-D and i saw it 3 times in the theatre. The glasses were cool and the effects blew me away!!
That said, there is no way i will see MBV3D in the theatre. I can't do horror films as they bother me way to much and the Supernatural connection isn't there as i have still only seen sporadic episodes. Sorry C-Kitty :(
But the effects are fantastic!! Waiting for Lucas to re-do Star Wars in the new 3-D style and then i WILL see that in the theatre
Lurking Wombat (who knows the answer to that classic question:
3-D or not 3-D? That is the question.
Re: 3-D
Cool! So the theatres in your area can do the 3-d if the local one by me can't? Good to know. :-)

Totally understand. If I wasn't an obsessed nutbag and wanted to see what Jensen Ackles will do with the role, I'd be waiting to rent too. As to the only seeing sporadic episodes, well, we'll have to see about that. It really is best watched from the start.

...hm. Double-edged sword, that. I like the original best, didn't like the CGI additions, and it kind of scares me what might get changed in a 3D version. And the less said about Jar-Jar and his tongue the better. :-P

Re: 3-D
But yeah. If they could figure out a way to make the original ones, (the original version without the added CGI), 3D without re-shooting all of it, that would be cool. :-)

and I was very good and restrained myself from the 'naked' option :D (you are soooooo cruel! :D)

I'm kind of surprised that I'm having as few qualms as I am about going to see this. I don't do slasher films at all, especially not in a no-pausing situation, but I've heard a tiny bit about the movie and I'm very curious to see what he does with the role. Also, given that I've voluntarily watched 'Devour' several times, my tolerance levels for everything go up considerably for movies where Jensen Ackles is playing a character. So, yeah, I'll see it in the theatre. Buuuut I'll probably be going by myself and sitting with my back to a nice solid wall. :-)
I don't know if I'll do a detailed report on MBV3D (hard to do one without being able to refer back to the source material) but I'll probably post something when I do get to see it, so I'll see if I can include a gore report. I doubt it will be gorier than "Time Is On My Side" though.
Now, when the Friday the 13th remake comes out with Jared.... I'm not sure on that one yet. It's smack in the middle of hell season at work, so I may not get the option of going to see it anyway. :-/

I try to be equal-opportunity when making polls. *nods* ;-D

I have to admit to wild curiousity, because I'm sure he's fabulous, but I just don't think I can *sigh* I'll depend on you for a general report and possibly a highlights reel eventually? :D

Well, it didn't start out gory, it started out more atmospheric and just kind of snuck in the chainsaws and eviserations in as the seasons went on. I blame Raoul over on TWoP. *nods*
Anyway, I'm trying to find a thetre that will play it in 3d by me.
I have no idea how to tell if a theatre is doing the 3D version or not. But Lurking Wombat mentioned above that "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was done using the same process, so if your local theatre offered that in 3D, then it'll be able to do this one too.

And I am so not a theatre-goer (ha, caught you "a") that I have no clue if "Journey to the Center of the Earth" was offered in 3d anywhere around here. I'll find out where it is eventually, I like having a mission anyway (like your Jensen headphones debacle!). :)
007 out.

Re: Squee
It's showed up on TV a few times and I've flailed every time. Especially when it's on channels other than CW.
I may see it just to squee by myself in a darkened theatre--I will try to control the laughter and flailing but sitting farrr in the back:P
Yeah, that's about the size of it for me too. It'll be the first movie of this type I've seen in a theatre, I think. And by 'this type' I don't mean 3D. :-)

This? I'm waiting for the DVD. There's just *nothing* about this that interests me. (Ditto with Jared's latest project.)

I've never liked slasher movies either. I haven't seen any of the Halloween/Friday the 13th/Nightmare franchises, at all. However, from what little I know, MBV has a bit of a 'whodunnit' air to the plot. Even that might not normally be enough to get me into a theatre to see it, but add Jensen in a major role? I'll make an exception. :-)
I made the same exception for "Ten Inch Hero". I do not like romantic comedies. At all. I find them insipid, boring and pointless unless there's zombies in them or some sci-fi or fantasy element or a non-social puzzle involved. But I took part of my extremely limited vacation time, spent over a hundred bucks all told to go see "Ten Inch Hero" when there was a showing within a feasible distance. I didn't regret seeing the movie because it showed a different facet to Jensen's abilities as an actor.
Jared's movie is a bit more of a hard sell for me to see in the theatre because I'm not (yet) as much of a fan of Jared's acting as I am of Jensen's, and Jared's movie has no element of 'whodunnit'. No puzzle to solve, just the traditional slasher formula, gore and screaming. Also, it's coming from an already well-known franchise of movies, and will likely have a moderate to decent box office presence. I'll probably wait for DVD.
I'm definitely not trying to shift you from your stance on the movie, just explaining why I'm going to see it. It's so out-of-character for me to be this excited over this type of movie, I'm kind of shaking my head in amazement. :-D

Re: Whoo hooo!
Good, at this point I have no idea when I might see it. It's not at the local theatre, even in 2D, and instead we have 'Paul Blart Mall Cop' :-P
Hope your work schedule at least leaves you some time to breathe? Maybe?
I have today off because I worked until 3AM last night, and since I seem to be coming down with pneumoia, even though I've had the shots to prevent it, 'time to breathe' is an ironic turn of phrase. :-P
