Recs: Sherlock Recs
FIC
GEN:
omnia mutantur by
Summary: Chance (and not so chance) meetings between the Sherlock characters and the Endless.
(It's been ages since I read anything to do with Sandman, and I found this fascinating.)
Sonata by
Summary: Sherlock and Mycroft are both musical, but they never play together any more.
(Music and the Holmes boys, and John's perspective on them. Funny and touching.)
12 Days until a Funeral by
Summary: Sherlock has to pick up the pieces when John suffers a personal tragedy
(This might be quite triggery for some. Read the notes before proceeding. An in-depth journey through the grieving process. It's heart-breaking and heart-warming and so very very sad. There are two preceeding stories to this one, but this can be read as a standalone.)
Obviously by
Summary: Sherlock isn’t psychopathic. He is not a high functioning sociopath. He doesn’t fall anywhere on the autistic spectrum and he is not anti-social. He’s just like every other member of his species. Or, well, former species now, thanks to Mycroft.
(Absolute crack that makes absolute sense, for certain values of absolute.)
'SQUINT'*
Five Times John Caught Sherlock Cuddling And One Time He Participated by
Summary: See title
(There needs to be more cuddling around here. Gen, squint and otherwise.)
*Squint = If you look at it one way, it's plain Gen, if you squint, you might see slash or pre-slash.
PRE-SLASH
Skewed Data by
Summary: It's not intentional, not the first time.
(Author's Rating: R - This fic is one of those stories that breaks the classifications. Check that.
SLASH
The Perils of Urban Warfare by
Summary: The problems of acclimatising to civilian life a.k.a the travails of John, his therapist and Sherlock.
(Author's Rating: PG-13 - I don't know how I missed this one 'til now, but I'm reccing it in case anyone else is living under the same rock as me. It's first-time John/Sherlock, among many many other greater things.)
If you've seen something amazing that you think more people in the Sherlock fandom should have the chance to enjoy, please rec it at this week's Sunday Recday post at

(Also, the Obviously story is a fascinating parallel to this one which I ADORED.)
ETA: ALSO ALSO, I HAD NOT READ THAT URBAN WARFARE ONE. APPARENTLY WE ARE BOTH ROCK-LIVING FOLK. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT LINK!

Re your eta: OMG I know! I saw how many pages of comments it had and I was all "Where the hell have I been???" O.o
There is so much really awesome and literary fanfic being produced by this fandom, it's astounding. And daunting as hell as a writer.

FWIW, though, I think you totally hold your own. I'm not just saying that as a friend - y'know, albeit in that weird never-actually-met-you-internet-y sort of way - either. (I have some friends, bless 'em, who are awesome and funny but I quietly avoid their fic because I can't bring myself to lie or make a pathetic comment like, "I...uh...like your correct use of semicolons! *thumbs up*") Much as I love your funny stories, it's been really neat to watch Sherlock bring out a more...thoughtful? poetic? flavour to your writing which easily equals anything else I've read in this fandom. (And given the quality of writing in the fandom, that's saying something!)
*facepalm* I really am some sort of weirdo one-woman cheerleading squad of yours, aren't I? Sorry. :P I promise I do get effusive over other writers too!
AHAHA I just apologized for over-complimenting you, didn't I? Because I don't want to make you feel uncomfortably over-praised, and am not comfortable giving lots of praise - HOW CANADIAN IS THAT?!?! LOLING 4EVAR
