I've got a really annoying moving-related road trip to make today. Since I have zero cash, I have (without intending to) managed to pack myself the same bag lunch I had in grade 2 (minus the semi-frozen Super Socco drink box): Peanut butter and Jam sandwich and a banana. In the process I have rediscovered some

technical tweaks to my peanut butter and jam sandwich construction methods, made in response to sandwich construction issues as they arose.

-If you use bread so rarely that you keep the loaf in the freezer to toast a slice at a time as needed, thaw the bread first.

-No, not toast. Thaw.

-Both sides of the bread.

-Let bread cool down and hope it doesn't dry into croutons.

-Spread the sticky things on the crustier side of each slice.

-There is definitely such a thing as 'too much peanut butter'.

-Spread TO the edges of the crust, not ON the edges of the crust.

-Use a little margarine on the jam side to keep the jam from soaking the bread to mush.

-Bread should not melt the margarine at this stage.

-Get real jam next time. (Whose bright idea was it to take something the consistency of half-set Jello, put mushed fruit in it and sell it as jam? They are evil.)

-The sticky sides go together, not sticky-side to dry-side (unless making a PB and J club sandwich, which doesn't pack well and uses too much bread for me. Also the cut banana in it would go weird too fast).

-Stick it in the fridge to firm up all the half-melted stuff spread on not-quite-cool bread before trying to cut it to fit in a sandwich bag.

Anyway. I'm off to do annoying adult things with my grade 2 dinner now. Blah. I miss Super Socco.

-I have accomplished about half the cleaning I intended to, but didn't get much else done either. Blah.

-[livejournal.com profile] mini_wrimo sign ups have begun for November, and I've signed up for 100 words a day. I was hoping to go for more this year, but RL shows every sign of being horrendously soul-sucking for the next several months and onward, so 100 it is.

-Lots of season premieres next week. Murdoch Mysteries on Monday, Supernatural retrospective Monday and season 10 premiere Tuesday (will save those for later, I won't get through all of season 9 by then. I will be catching up as I can and not starting on season 10 or watching the retrospective until I'm caught up, arg. However, I won't be doing any full-on crazy reaction posts for season 9. There may be a separate post about this later, just in case anyone cares. :-P). Flash premiere also Tuesday. Doubtless more things but those are the ones that made my calender.

-Of the new shows I've started watching/have seen:
--Scorpion is so far a fun popcorn mini-spy movie with geniuses that I like but I am not yet avid for.
--How to Get Away With Murder turned out to be not my thing, really, since we now know who did what to who and who put them up to it, and the rest is going to be psychological manipulation, backstabbing and sex, and really not much real mystery. Also I misread the commercials and thought the instructor would be a very different sort of character, far less of an adversary. In the end, it all goes more soapy than mystery, and while that's great for what it is, it's just not for me. I also rather loathe Grey's Anatomy, so I probably should have realized this would have a similar mien given it's the same creator. Anyway, I'm going to need that block clear for when Elementary starts up again.
--Forever. Forever. Holy crap I'm into this show. There may even be fic at this rate.
--Gotham, which hadn't been on my watch list but I caught part of an episode while doing dishes may yet get my attention, as the whole Gordon and the PD dynamic is giving me Life on Mars flashbacks, and that's a good thing. I don't know if I'll be seeking it out in future, but it's probably going to gt a second look if it's on when I'm looking for a distraction.

-Of the new seasons of shows I was watching previously:
--Agents of Shield continues to be made of solid golden yay.
--Criminal Minds team changes are being handled a little more deftly than previously. Still a disturbing gore-fest, but that's Wednesdays for you.
