Welcome to Night Vale is a weird little podcast/podplay which some of you might like. It comes out twice a month, and is available for free on iTunes. Each episode runs between 20 and 30 minutes. It's formatted like a radio broadcast from a town where the bizarre is just another thing that happens.

It's been popping up recently as a crossover 'verse in a few different places and was intriguing to me. I've only listened to the Pilot episode and have no idea when or if I might listen to the rest, but it seems to contain Lovecraftian elements, horror elements, X-files elements, Eureka elements, dark humor elements and a considerable amount of crack, so I thought some of you might like to know about it if you didn't already.

Quotes from Pilot Episode:

"The City Council announces the opening of a new dog park at the corner of Earl and Sommerset, near the Ralph’s. They would like to remind everyone that dogs are not allowed in the dog park. People are not allowed in the dog park. It is possible that you will see hooded figures in the dog park. Do not approach them. Do not approach the dog park. The fence is electrified and highly dangerous. Try not to look at the dog park, and especially do not look for any period of time at the hooded figures. The dog park will not harm you."

"Lights, seen in the sky above the Arby’s. Not the glowing sign of Arby’s. Something higher, and beyond that. We know the difference. We’ve caught on to their game. We understand the 'lights above Arby’s' game. Invaders from another world. Ladies and gentlemen, the future is here, and it’s about a hundred feet above the Arby’s."

Again, it's free, so give it a shot if you like to listen to weird things. ^.^

I blame [livejournal.com profile] bellatemple for this. Hers is here. Mine is thankfully very short because LJ voicepost only lets non-US folk have one minute. This thing does not exist in text form nor ever will, my god, although I'm wondering what the LJ auto-transcribe feature will make of it. Anyone into accents, this is me and my BC Coastal Mushmouth coming at you.

Lo, a challenge has been issued forth by [livejournal.com profile] anteka, and I, being of crappy morning voice and utter lack of spine have acquiesced to her command. Again.

So if this makes your ears bleed, blame [livejournal.com profile] anteka. ;-)

ETA 12/17/09: Apparently Putfile no longer exists. Sorry. :-(

Also, go do it!

Or, if LJ Voice Post is down for you like it was for me *kicks LJ*, record and upload it somewhere. I recorded using the audio function of my little camera, and uploaded it to Putfile because everything else's upload windows crash my browser (ten year old Mac). Not the best option, far from ideal, but it's up! Woo! \o/

Now you all do it! Go! Siiiiing!!!! \o/

Okay, I've actually been wanting to do this for quite a while, but Dr. Horrible is one of several awesome reasons to do it now.

If you're like me, you have the option of doing a bunch of voice posts in a month and usually never use them. (Also, if you're non-US like me, LJ has an arbitrary timelimit of 60 seconds which is a weensy bit restrictive on how much yakking you can do.) So, why not use one of those languishing voice posts to show the world... DUN DUN DUUUUUN...

[echo]Your Evil Laugh.[/echo]

So go on, show the world that they will rue the day they called you insane and mocked your plans for world domination, get your evil on and belt out your best "Mwahahahaha!"

Here's mine:

Well, maybe that's not my best, but it's a little bit evil. I think. Maybe I need a vocal coach.

Anyway, tagging! I tag everyone! Everyone who can do voice posts or record a sound file and upload it! If you are reading this and have the capability, you are tagged! How's that for evil? MwahaHA!

Hm. I think this might have actually worked.

It's a really short sound file of Dean and Sam both speaking latin simultaneously. )
